About the frame

This frame in light oak veneer is made for you if you want a soft, Nordic look with a harmonious and uniform finish. The light wood color gives the frame a friendly, calm tone that fits beautifully into minimalism, Scandinavian interiors and more colorful homes alike. The surface has a natural play that is reminiscent of real oak – but without the large variations that can occur in solid wood.

The profile of the frame measures 15 mm in width and 15 mm in outer depth, which gives an elegant, slender edge that shows off the artwork without appearing heavy. The front overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm, so the picture is held securely, while the frame gets a distinct and well-balanced finish.

On the back you will find sturdy metal fittings, so the frame can easily be hung both vertically and horizontally. The construction is light but stable, and the veneer gives a refined finish that keeps its appearance for many years.

This frame is an obvious choice for framing artwork with soft colors. The light wood color works as a neutral, yet natural complement, and lets colors, contrasts and details stand out without being drowned out by the frame itself.

Choosing glass

The glass plays a major role in both the experience and the durability of what is framed. Each type of glass gives its very own visual look:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and safe – an obvious choice for homes with children or larger formats. Once the film is removed, you get a clear surface with the familiar reflections you also know from standard glass.

Standard glass
The classic choice if you want sharp, natural clarity. The visible reflections give the artwork a traditional and lively look, especially in calm surroundings.

Non-reflective glass
The slightly matte surface reduces glare significantly and makes the artwork visible from several angles. Perfect in rooms with a lot of light, large windows or direct lamps.

Museum glass
The most exclusive solution. Museum glass is almost invisible, has minimal reflections and provides up to 70% UV protection. Colors and details are preserved for years, and the artwork appears as if there were no glass in front of it at all.

Compare the four types of glass

Passepartout

When you choose a passepartout, the size of the frame determines how much space there is around the artwork. The frame must therefore be larger than the artwork – a 60×60 cm poster with a passepartout of approx. 5 cm requires, for example, a light oak wooden frame in 70×70 cm.

We have passepartouts in several different colors. In the large formats above 81×110 cm, however, they are only available in white and off-white.

Cutout size

The inner dimension should be 1 cm smaller than the size of the artwork. If you are framing a poster measuring 40×40 cm with a passepartout, the cutout size should therefore be 39×39 cm. That way the board overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm on all sides, which keeps the poster stable and makes it easy to mount. Outer dimension

The outer dimensions of the passepartout are always equal to the dimensions of the glass. The front edge of the frame overlaps the glass, passepartout and backing board by approximately 5 mm, which is worth keeping in mind.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout is available with 0-5 cutouts of your choice. If you need more cutouts, please contact us. If you choose no cutouts, the artwork is mounted on top of the board, which highlights the entire edge of the picture, the signature and the print marks.

Position of the cutout

You have three options to choose from:

Centered cutout (standard): The artwork is placed in the middle of the passepartout with an equally wide border at the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: An equally wide border at the top and sides and a wider border at the bottom.

Free choice: Perfect if you have a particular position in mind. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, and our preview shows the result at all times.

Whichever you choose, the passepartout is made from 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
