May Milton
Made in Denmark
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a French painter and poster art's earliest and best-known figure. He died in 1901 of syphilis at the age of 36.
This work is one of his boldest compositions. It illustrates Lautrec's innovative style with flat, simplified, brightly colored shapes and dramatic silhouettes. He was a keen observer of character and physical features, capturing life in a decadent era in his very own way.
The poster shows the English dancer May Milton, who performed at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. This poster was made to advertise her US tour.
The original work from The Cleveland Museum of Art is photographed, digitally optimized and printed on 240 gram matte premium paper.
