About the frame

This dark red high-gloss frame adds warmth and depth to your wall. The rich colour sits somewhere between red wine and mahogany, and the smooth reflective surface gives a refined, exclusive finish. Together, they create a frame that can appear bold or sophisticated depending on the motif. The slim 13 mm profile keeps the expression elegant and modern, while the rounded corners soften the look. A stylish choice for both contemporary posters and timeless art prints — and an atmospheric alternative to the classic black frame.

The frame is crafted from solid ayous wood, combining durability with low weight for easy handling. The front profile overlaps the glass by 5 mm, securing both the motif and the backing in place without covering more than necessary. On the back, metal brackets allow for vertical and horizontal hanging, and flexible metal clips make it quick to change the contents.

The frame is available in 32 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 50×70 cm, and can also be ordered in custom dimensions.

Glass

The glass has a major impact on both the final appearance and long-term protection. In smaller frames, acrylic and normal glass cost the same, while real glass becomes more expensive in larger formats due to the more demanding packaging and shipping.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and almost as clear as normal glass once the protective film is removed. Visible reflections.

Normal glass
Classic clarity with natural reflections and sharp detail.

Non-reflective glass
Reduces glare significantly thanks to a slightly matte surface.

Museum glass
Maximum clarity with minimal glare and effective UV protection to keep colours vibrant for many years.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

When using a passepartout, the frame must always be one size larger than the poster itself. For example, a 40×40 cm poster with a 5 cm mount requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours, although in sizes over 70×100 cm they can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller in both height and width. For example: A poster measuring 66×88 cm should use a 65×87 cm cutout. This ensures an overlap of approx. 5 mm all the way around for secure mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always match the glass size of the frame. Note that the glass, mount and backing plate typically sit approx. 5 mm behind the front profile.

Cutout position

You can choose between three positions:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to top and sides, creating a wider lower border.

Passepartout without cutout: The poster is placed on top of the cardboard — ideal when the entire edge or signature should remain visible.

All passepartouts are produced in high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.

Shipping & returns

All frames are produced to order in our Danish workshop. We usually ship within a few business days, although production times may be longer during busy periods.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy.

If you wish to return an item, simply contact info@plakatkunst.dk. A return label is included in the package, and the return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund.

If your frame arrives damaged, we will replace it at no extra cost.
