About the frame

The dark blue high-gloss finish gives this frame an exclusive, sophisticated appearance. The colour is as deep as midnight blue and shifts subtly when light reflects off the glossy surface. The slim 13 mm profile frames the motif without feeling heavy, and the rounded corners add a calm, elegant balance. A refined alternative to the classic black frame when you want something more personal and distinctive.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood – a strong yet lightweight material that ensures stability and easy handling. The front profile overlaps the glass by 5 mm so both the motif and the backing plate sit securely. On the back you will find metal brackets for vertical and horizontal hanging, along with flexible metal clips that make it quick and easy to change the contents.

The frame is available in 32 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 50×70 cm, and it can also be made to custom measurements.

Glass

Glass has a significant influence on both appearance and protection. For smaller formats, acrylic glass and normal glass cost the same, while real glass in large frames becomes more expensive due to packaging and shipping.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and almost as clear as normal glass once the protective film is removed. Natural glare.

Normal glass
Classic, clear and sharp with traditional reflections.

Non-reflective glass
Greatly reduces glare thanks to its slightly matte surface.

Museum glass
Crystal clear, low glare and with effective UV protection to preserve colours and details.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you choose a passepartout, the frame must always be one size larger than the motif itself. For example, a 40×40 cm poster with an approx. 5 cm passepartout requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours, although formats above 70×100 cm are only available in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster as accurately as possible and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster’s width and height. For example, a 66×88 cm poster should use a 65×87 cm cutout. This gives approx. 5 mm overlap on all sides for secure mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always correspond to the size of the glass in the frame. Note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout sit approx. 5 mm behind the front profile of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three designs:

Centered cutout (standard): Placed symmetrically between top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, leaving a wider margin at the bottom.

Passepartout without cutout: The poster is placed on top of the cardboard — ideal when you want signatures, print marks or the full edge visible.

All passepartouts are produced from 1.5 mm acid-free, high-quality cardboard.

Companies and public institutions that require invoices or EAN billing are welcome to contact us via email, phone or chat.

Payment is processed securely through Shopify Payments, and the amount is only charged once the order has been shipped. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice will appear in your PlakatKunst account.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on all standard items. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically to your measurements.

Damaged items
If you receive a damaged frame, we will of course send a replacement free of charge. Simply contact us at info@plakatkunst.dk with photos of the damage and packaging.
