About the poster
Dark tree trunks frame a luminous spring meadow, where a small stream winds its way between the flowers. Further into the landscape, a watermill and a house stand among blossoming trees, while a broad shaft of sunlight breaks through the forest and falls across the valley. Deep blues and greens contrast beautifully with the yellow and light green of the meadow.
With the wording “Dein Reiseziel im Frühling: Der Deutsche Süden”, the poster invites travellers to visit southern Germany in spring. Bergstrasse, Neckar, Schwarzwald and Bodensee are named along the bottom. The scene brings together the tranquillity of the forest, flowing water and blossoming trees in an evocative image of the region’s natural landscape.
The poster measures 41.5 × 58.5 cm. The lower margin directs readers to the Landesfremdenverkehrsverband Baden in Karlsruhe for information and brochures. The artist, printer and exact printing year have not been confirmed.
About the artist
The artist behind this design has not yet been identified. The composition relies on a strong contrast between the dark trees close to the viewer and the bright landscape in the background. The stream and diagonal shaft of sunlight guide the eye towards the buildings, giving the scene both depth and movement.
Condition
10/10 – Perfect condition with beautiful patina. The warm aged tone of the paper complements the greens, yellows and blues of the design. See the detail photographs for a closer impression of the print and paper margins.
Framing
A slim dark oak frame highlights the deep colours of the forest. A cream passepartout (also called a mount or mat), used as a backing, gives the poster breathing space and keeps the design, lettering and original paper margins visible.
This is simply our suggestion. You can explore the framing options yourself and order your chosen frame and passepartout with the poster. We always ship lithographs and frames separately to protect the poster should the frame be damaged in transit. Inserting the poster into the frame yourself is relatively straightforward, and we are happy to help if you have any questions about mounting it.
