About the frame

This matte grey wooden frame is a modern alternative to classic wood colours, offering a calm, understated, and contemporary overall look. The grey finish completely covers the wood's grain, creating a uniform, elegant surface on the slim 15 mm profile. The result is a minimalist frame that highlights the motif without adding warmth or visual clutter.

The frame can be custom-made to your exact desired dimensions – down to the millimeter – and can, of course, be hung both horizontally and vertically. The matte grey colour makes the frame particularly suitable for graphic motifs, black and white posters, and art where a sleek and modern expression is desired.

Glass

The glass significantly impacts the perception of colours, details, and atmosphere. At PlakatKunst, you can choose from four types of glass, each offering its own character:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – a lightweight and shatterproof choice, especially suitable for large formats and homes with children.

Standard glass – classic clarity with clear reflections and a natural reproduction of the motif.

Anti-reflective glass – significantly reduces glare and provides a soft, matte impression, making the image easy to view from multiple angles.

Museum glass – almost invisible, completely anti-reflective, and with a minimum of 70% UV protection, preserving colours and details for many years.

Passepartout

A passepartout adds space, depth, and elegance to the framing, creating a calmer and more balanced expression. It also helps protect the poster by preventing direct contact between the motif and the glass.

Our passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard and are available in several colours, each with its own fine and discreet texture. This allows for precise customization of the look to match the motif.

The frame should always be chosen larger than the poster itself when using a passepartout. For example, if you have a 34×34 cm poster, it will fit well in a 44×44 cm frame, allowing for a 5 cm wide passepartout.

Opening size

Carefully measure your poster and choose an opening size that is 1 cm smaller in both height and width. For example, a 47×47 cm motif should have an opening size of 46×46 cm. This provides an overlap of approximately 5 mm all around, ensuring the poster is securely held.

You do not need to specify the outer dimensions – they will automatically be adjusted to the size of the frame and glass.

Hole position

The placement of the cutout significantly affects how the motif is perceived. You can choose from:

• Centered opening: Provides a classic, well-balanced look with equal distance to the top and bottom.
• Top-placed opening: The cutout aligns with the top and sides, providing a wider border at the bottom for a more graphic look.
• No opening: The entire passepartout is delivered without a cutout, so the motif is mounted on top of the cardboard – ideal for images with signatures or decorative borders.

Payment & invoice

Payment is handled securely by Shopify Payments and is only charged when your order is dispatched. Order confirmation and invoice will be sent to your email and saved in your PlakatKunst account.

Delivery & returns

Delivery
All custom-made frames are produced to order and typically dispatched within 3–7 business days. Each frame undergoes careful quality control before packaging.

Frames larger than 70×100 cm are delivered by DSV directly to the address. If the package can be placed securely, the driver will leave it – otherwise, a new delivery will be arranged.

Frames up to 70×100 cm can be sent to a GLS parcel shop for DKK 39, while delivery to a private or business address costs DKK 79. Orders over DKK 899 are shipped free of charge.

Returns
You have a 100-day return policy on standard products. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned as they are produced to your specifications.

Complaints
If your frame is damaged upon receipt, please send photos of the packaging and the damage to info@plakatkunst.dk. We will arrange a quick replacement or solution.
