Original war poster from 1944, designed by James Bingham. This vintage lithograph shows an American soldier looking aggressively at the Japanese islands, with a clear intention of showing no mercy.
After the defeat of Germany in 1945, the Allies turned their full attention to Japan. In August of that year, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, causing widespread destruction and loss of civilian life. Shortly thereafter, on 8 August 1945, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and launched an invasion of Manchuria. These events, combined with the prospect of an Allied invasion, convinced the Japanese leadership to accept the Allied terms of surrender. Japan formally surrendered on 2 September 1945, marking the end of World War II.
Condition
5/10 - Very worn left side, but a beautiful poster with a lot of patina, which will look great in a box frame with visible edges.
