About the poster
Original Italian travel poster from 1947 featuring Sicily, published by the national tourism organisation ENIT (Ente Nazionale Italiano per il Turismo). The poster is signed by the artist Giulio d’Angelo, whose name appears directly within the motif.
The composition presents a vivid and painterly interpretation of Sicily, with Mount Etna erupting dramatically in the background, while a richly decorated traditional Sicilian cart filled with fruit dominates the foreground. The artwork is full of colour and detail, and its expressive style reflects hand-painted origins, setting it apart from more rigid graphic designs of the same period.
The poster is printed as a classic lithograph, featuring ENIT’s official emblem as well as printing and distribution details in the margin, including references to Italian posting regulations from 1947. These elements underline its authenticity as original campaign material from the post-war era.
This example has not been restored and is not linen-backed, but remains in its original condition with visible patina consistent with age.
Original ENIT posters from this period are highly sought after for their artistic quality and historical significance, and this is a particularly characterful example with strong visual presence.
Condition
8/10 – Noticeable patina and several minor edge tears. Overall, the poster presents well with strong, vibrant colours and an authentic vintage appearance.
