About the frame
Silver wooden frame - Wide (20 mm) has a muted silver finish with a dark metallic tone that creates a cool, sleek look. The lacquer has a fine ribbed texture that gives the surface a discreet play of light when the light falls on it.
The frame is made of solid ayous wood – a wood with low weight and high strength that is dimensionally stable and keeps its shape for many years, even in the large sizes.
The profile is 20 mm wide and 30 mm deep, giving a striking and solid edge. The front overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm all the way round, so the motif is held securely in place. The size always refers to the dimensions of the glass and backing board, i.e. the size of your poster.
There is a hanger on the back, so the frame can hang both vertically and horizontally.
The cool silver tone particularly suits black-and-white motifs, photography and modern art, where the contrasts are allowed to stand out sharply.
If you prefer a narrower edge, the frame is also available in a narrow 15 mm version with the same silver finish.
Choice of glass
The glass has a big impact on both how the motif is reproduced and the visual experience in the room. Each type has its own advantages:
Acrylic glass (Plexiglas)
Light and shatterproof – ideal for families with children, public spaces or large sizes. Once the protective film is removed, the acrylic glass is clear, with reflections similar to those of ordinary glass.
Ordinary glass
Our most classic glass. It offers pure, sharp clarity and the familiar reflection of light that many prefer in traditional display settings.
Anti-reflective glass
The matt surface markedly reduces glare and makes the motif easy to see from different angles – perfect for rooms with lots of incoming light or direct lamps.
Museum glass
The most exclusive choice. Museum glass is almost invisible, reduces reflections to a minimum and offers up to 70% UV protection. Colours and contrasts appear especially accurate, and the motif looks almost as if it were unprotected.

Passepartout
If you would like a passepartout around your motif, the frame itself must be chosen in a larger size than the motif. For example, a 50×70 cm poster with a passepartout of about 5 cm requires a frame in 60×80 cm.
Mounts can be ordered in several colours – but only in white and off-white for sizes larger than 81×110 cm.
Aperture size
Measure your motif accurately and subtract 1 cm from both the width and the height – that is your aperture size. A 61×91.5 cm poster therefore needs an aperture of 60×90.5 cm. The passepartout then overlaps the motif by approx. 5 mm all the way round and holds it securely in place. If you would rather have a float border where a little of the paper is visible, you can choose this in our frame designer.
Outer dimensions
You do not need to worry about the outer dimensions – they are always identical to the size of the glass in the frame. The glass, backing board and passepartout sit approx. 5 mm under the front edge of the frame.
Number of apertures
The passepartout is available with 0–5 apertures of your choice. If you need more cut-outs, please contact us. If you choose no aperture, the artwork is mounted on top of the board, which shows off the entire edge of the picture, the signature and printer's marks.
Position of the aperture
There are three positions to choose from:
Centred aperture (standard): The same distance to the top and bottom – the classic solution.
Top-positioned aperture: The aperture is moved up so that the distance to the top and sides is the same and the bottom border becomes wider.
Free positioning: Here you control the position yourself, down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and the left-hand side, while our preview shows how it looks.
Whatever you choose, the passepartout is made from 1.5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
