About the frame
Our frameboxes are designed for those who want a frame with depth and a calm, exclusive expression, where the motif is given air and presence. A framebox – also known as a frame with depth or an aquarium-style frame – is ideal for art that should not sit directly against the glass and gives the work a distinct spatial effect.
The frameboxes are manufactured in our Danish workshop with great precision and attention to detail. The 20 mm wide front profile combined with a solid depth of 30 mm creates a balanced and timeless expression that works equally well for modern graphic pieces and classic art prints. The front overlaps the glass by 5 mm, ensuring that the motif is held securely and precisely in place.
The frameboxes are equipped with integrated 14 mm spacers, creating an elegant distance between the glass and the back plate. This distance gives the motif air and depth while ensuring that the work does not touch the glass – a solution that is both visually refined and gentle to the artwork.
The frame dimensions are always specified based on the size of the glass and back plate, corresponding exactly to the motif you want framed. The framebox comes standard with white, acid-free insert paper, and you can choose a passepartout without a cutout if you want a more solid or colored background.
If you need a framebox in a specific size or with special construction requirements, it can also be ordered in special dimensions, manufactured precisely to your needs.
Glass
The choice of glass has a significant impact on both the visual impression and the long-term protection of your artwork. For frameboxes we recommend real glass only. We also offer acrylic glass, but it is not recommended for this type of frame.
Regular glass
A classic glass with clear color reproduction and visible reflections.
Non-reflective glass
Significantly reduces glare and creates a calmer, more uniform appearance in bright environments. The surface is slightly matte.
Museum glass
An exclusive glass that appears almost invisible thanks to its exceptional clarity and minimal reflection. Museum glass also provides at least 70% UV protection and ensures very high color accuracy.
Passepartout / Mat / Mount
The framebox comes standard with white, acid-free insert paper as a background. If you want a more distinctive and uniform surface behind the motif, we recommend choosing a passepartout without a cutout.
If you choose a passepartout with a cutout, the frame must always be larger than the motif itself. For example, a 30×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approximately 5 cm fits in a 40×50 cm frame.
If you need more than one passepartout for the same framebox, you can purchase an extra passepartout here.
Cutout
Choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the motif’s dimensions in both height and width.
Cutout position
Choose between a centered cutout, a top-positioned cutout (same distance to top and sides), or a passepartout without cutout.
The outer dimensions always follow the dimensions of the frame.
All passepartouts are made of 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Companies and public institutions that wish to pay via invoice or EAN are welcome to contact us via phone, chat or email.
Payment is handled securely through Shopify Payments and is only charged once your order has shipped. After ordering, you will receive an order confirmation, and the invoice is available in your PlakatKunst account.
Return
You have a 100-day right of return. When returning, the enclosed return label can be used and the return shipping will be deducted from the refund. If you receive a framebox with transport damage, we will of course replace it free of charge.
Complaint
If you receive a framebox with damage, we will replace it free of charge. Please contact us within 7 days of receipt so we can file a claim with the shipping company.
