About the frame
This framebox in dark oak veneer is created for motifs that call for warmth, depth and visual weight. The surface has a characteristic reddish hue, giving the frame a richer and more inviting tone than classic oak – without appearing heavy. The wood structure is calm and uniform, resulting in a controlled and predictable expression that allows the motif to take center stage.
The framebox – also known as a frame with depth or an aquarium-style frame – is constructed with a clear gap between the glass and the motif. This creates an elegant spatial effect, giving the artwork air around it and enhancing its depth and presence.
The frame is manufactured in our Danish workshop with the same construction principles and precision as our other frameboxes. The 20 mm wide front profile combined with a total depth of 30 mm creates a solid and well-balanced expression, particularly suited for photography, graphic prints and artworks with darker colors or warm tones. The front overlaps the glass by 5 mm, ensuring that the motif is held firmly and precisely in place.
The integrated 14 mm spacers keep the motif at a distance from the glass and add depth to the composition without dominating. At the same time, the construction protects the artwork by preventing direct contact with the glass.
The frame dimensions are always specified based on the size of the glass and back plate and correspond exactly to the motif you want framed. As standard, the framebox is supplied with white, acid-free insert paper. If you want a more distinctive or colored expression, you can choose a passepartout without a cutout.
If you have special requirements for dimensions or construction, the framebox can also be ordered in special dimensions – manufactured precisely according to your needs.
Glass
The choice of glass is crucial for both the visual experience of the motif and long-term protection. For frameboxes we recommend real glass only. We offer three different types of real glass, each with its own characteristics. Acrylic glass is part of our range, but is not recommended for frameboxes.
Regular glass
A clear glass with a classic appearance, where reflections are visible and colors are reproduced naturally.
Non-reflective glass
Effectively reduces glare and creates a calmer, more uniform look – even in rooms with a lot of light. The surface is slightly matte, unlike museum glass, which remains optically clear.
Museum glass
An exclusive glass that appears almost invisible thanks to its optically clear, non-reflective properties. It also provides at least 70% UV protection and ensures very high color accuracy.
Passepartout / Mat / Mount
The framebox is supplied with white, acid-free insert paper as standard. If you want a more distinctive and cohesive background behind the motif, we recommend choosing a passepartout without a cutout.
If you use a passepartout with a cutout, the frame should always be larger than the motif itself. For example, a 30×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approximately 5 cm fits in a 40×50 cm frame.
If you need more than one passepartout for the same frame, you can purchase an extra passepartout here.
Cutout
Choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the motif’s dimensions in both height and width.
Cutout position
Choose between a centered cutout, a top-positioned cutout (same distance to top and sides), or a passepartout without a cutout.
The external dimensions always follow the dimensions of the frame.
All passepartouts are made of 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Payment is handled securely via Shopify Payments and is only charged once the order has been shipped. After purchase, you will receive an order confirmation, and the invoice is available in your PlakatKunst account.
Return
You have a 100-day right of return. If you wish to return an item, the enclosed return label can be used, and the return shipping will be deducted from the refund. In the event of transport damage, we will of course send a replacement at no extra cost.
Complaint
If you receive a framebox with transport damage, we will replace it free of charge. Please contact us no later than 7 days after receipt so that we can file a claim with the shipping company.
