About the frame

Purple in high gloss balances imagination and calm. The slim 13 mm edge creates a fine line around the artwork, while the gloss gives a discreet, elegant play of light—a sophisticated choice for art prints, graphic art and photography.

Glass

Choose the glass for your frame with care. There is a big difference between all the types of glass - including in price. For the smaller frames, acrylic glass and standard glass cost the same, while standard glass is more expensive for the larger frames. The reason is that shipping real glass in large formats demands much more of us in terms of packaging and shipment.

Acrylic glass — lightweight, shatterproof, almost as clear as glass, with reflections.

Standard glass — classic clarity with reflections.

Non-reflective — reduces glare significantly but is slightly matte.

Museum glass — top clarity, low glare and UV protection.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout between the artwork and the frame, choose the frame in a larger format than the artwork. With a border of approx. 5 cm, an artwork measuring 30×30 cm fits in a purple glossy wooden frame measuring 40×40 cm.

We offer passepartouts in several shades. In formats above 81×110 cm, however, they can only be ordered in white and off-white.

Inner dimension

For the passepartout to hold the artwork correctly, we recommend a cutout size 1 cm smaller than the dimensions of the poster. If, for example, you have a poster measuring 42×59,4 cm, the right cutout size is 41×58,4 cm. The overlap of approximately 5 mm on each side ensures that the artwork stays in place and is easy to mount. If you want a reveal edge, you can order it via our Frame Designer.

Outer dimension

The outside of the passepartout is cut to exactly the same dimensions as the glass in the frame. Note that the front edge of the frame covers approx. 5 mm of the glass, backing board and passepartout along the edge.

Number of cutouts

From 0 to 5 cutouts can be made in the passepartout, and if you want even more, we are happy to help if you contact us. Zero cutouts is the obvious choice when the artwork is to lie on top of the board, so the edge, signature and print marks stand out.

Position of the cutout

Choose between three types of positioning:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout sits in the middle of the passepartout with the same distance to the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: The cutout is moved upward, with equal distance to the top and sides and extra space at the bottom.

Free positioning: Here you control the position yourself down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, while our preview shows what it looks like.

Whichever you choose, the passepartout is made from 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
