About the frame

This gold-colored wooden frame has a look that exudes warmth and classic elegance. The surface has a slightly crackled texture, which gives it a beautiful, antique feel – like a piece you might be lucky enough to find at an old art dealer's or a flea market in southern Europe. The soft glow of the gold finish makes the frame suitable both for modern graphic works and for art prints where you want a touch of tradition and character.

The frame's profile measures 15 mm in both width and depth, and the front overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm, so the artwork sits securely and elegantly. On the back you will find hangers for both horizontal and vertical placement, and the small formats up to 18×24 cm include a support stand, so the frame can also stand freely on a dresser, shelf or windowsill.

All the frame's sizes follow the dimensions of the glass and backing board — exactly the dimensions your poster should have.

A charming gold frame that is available all the way up to 70×100 cm.

Glass

The choice of glass changes both the mood and the visual experience of the artwork. Here are the four options you can choose between:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A lightweight and shatterproof material that is especially suitable for homes with children or rooms where the frame may take an accidental knock. The clarity resembles that of standard glass, but you get a more robust solution.

Standard glass
The classic choice, which gives the artwork a natural and familiar sheen. A good and timeless standard glass with visible reflections.

Non-reflective glass
The matte surface minimizes glare and makes the artwork easy to see from all angles. In strong light the artwork may appear slightly softer – in return, it gives an incredibly pleasant visual experience in bright rooms.

Museum glass
The most exclusive solution. Almost invisible glass with reduced reflection and approx. 70% UV protection. Together with the UV filter of the windows, it helps preserve the colors over time. Museum glass makes the artwork stand completely free, as if there is almost no glass in front of it.

Choose the type of glass that best suits both the artwork and the location — the difference is greater than you might think.

Passepartout

With a passepartout around the artwork, the format of the frame must be larger than the picture itself. If, for example, you have a 30×40 cm poster and want a border of about 5 cm, you should choose the frame in 40×50 cm.

Passepartouts are available in several color tones. If the frame is larger than 81×110 cm, however, the passepartout can only be supplied in white or off-white.

Cutout size

We recommend that you measure your artwork accurately and choose a cutout size that is 1 cm smaller. For a 66×88 cm poster, this means a cutout size of 65×87 cm, so that the passepartout overlaps by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds the artwork securely. If you would like a reveal edge, it can be chosen in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The passepartout is cut on the outside to exactly the same dimensions as the glass in the frame. Please note that the front edge of the frame covers approx. 5 mm of the glass, backing board and passepartout along the edge.

Number of cutouts

You can have between 0 and 5 cutouts cut in the passepartout. If you would like more, you are welcome to contact us. Zero cutouts is typically chosen when the work is to be placed on top of the board – an elegant way to show the entire edge, the signature or the print marks.

Placement of the cutout

Choose the placement that best suits your artwork:

Centered cutout (standard): The artwork is placed in the middle of the passepartout with an equally wide border at the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: The cutout is moved upward with an equal distance to the top and sides and extra space at the bottom.

Free placement: Gives you full control over the placement. You enter the distance from the top and left side and can continuously see the result in our preview.

We use 1,5 mm acid-free board in professional quality for all passepartouts.
