About the frame

This framebox in light oak veneer is created for those who want the natural look of oak – but in a more uniform and subdued interpretation. The veneer surface gives the frame a light, natural character with an elegant and harmonious expression, allowing the motif to stand out clearly.

The framebox – also known as a frame with depth or an aquarium-style frame – is ideal for works that should not be placed directly against the glass. The built-in gap creates a distinct spatial effect and gives the motif both air and visual depth.

The frame is manufactured in our Danish workshop with the same precision and construction principles as our solid oak frames. The 20 mm wide front profile combined with a total depth of 30 mm creates a balanced, timeless expression that works equally well for modern graphic works, photography and classic art prints. The front overlaps the glass by 5 mm, ensuring that the motif is held securely and precisely in place.

The framebox is equipped with integrated 14 mm spacers, creating an elegant distance between the glass and the back plate. This distance ensures that the artwork does not touch the glass, while adding depth and a clear three-dimensional quality to the composition.

The frame dimensions are always specified based on the size of the glass and back plate and correspond exactly to the motif you want framed. As standard, the framebox is supplied with white, acid-free insert paper. If you want a more solid or colored background, you can choose a passepartout without a cutout.

If you need a very specific size or a special construction, the framebox can of course also be ordered in special dimensions – manufactured exactly according to your wishes.

Glass

The choice of glass has a significant impact on both the visual experience and the long-term protection of your artwork. Reflections, color rendering and UV protection vary depending on the glass type. For frameboxes we recommend real glass only. We also offer acrylic glass, but do not recommend it for this type of frame.

Regular glass
A classic and clear glass with natural color reproduction. Visible reflections create a traditional look.

Non-reflective glass
A slightly matte glass that significantly reduces reflections. Particularly suitable for rooms with a lot of light, large windows or spot lighting.

Museum glass
Our most exclusive glass. Almost invisible and with at least 70% UV protection. Enhances colors and details with exceptional clarity.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you choose to use a passepartout, the frame must always be larger than the poster itself. For example, a 40×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approximately 5 cm fits in a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colors. However, for formats over 70×100 cm, they are produced in white only.

Cutout

Measure your motif accurately and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the motif’s dimensions in both height and width. This provides an overlap of approximately 5 mm and ensures stable and precise mounting.

Exterior dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always follow the glass size of the frame. Glass, passepartout and backing plate extend approximately 5 mm below the front edge of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between the following options:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to top and sides, creating a wider bottom edge.

Passepartout without cutout: The motif is mounted on top of the cardboard, allowing the entire artwork – including edges or signature – to remain visible.

All passepartouts are made of 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Payment & invoice

Companies and public institutions can receive invoices or EAN invoicing by contacting us via email, chat or telephone.

Payment is handled securely via Shopify Payments and is only charged once the order has been shipped. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice can be found in your PlakatKunst account.

Return
You have a 100-day right of return on standard items.

Contact us at info@plakatkunst.dk if you wish to return an item. A return label is included, and the return shipping will be deducted from the refund.

Complaint
If you receive a framebox with transport damage, we will of course replace it free of charge. Please contact us no later than 7 days after receipt so that we can file a claim with the shipping company.
