About the frame

Shiny blue wooden frame that brings a fresh and optimistic energy into the room. The surface is glossy and reflects the light in a way that gives posters and art prints a clean and modern look. The slim 13 mm profile makes the frame discreet, but the color ensures that the artwork gets a distinct framing full of character. The rounded corners complete the whole with a soft, elegant touch.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood, which combines low weight with high strength. The front molding overlaps the glass by 5 mm, so everything is held securely in place without covering too much of the artwork. On the back you will find metal fittings for hanging both vertically and horizontally, as well as small metal clips (flexible tabs), which make it easy to replace the contents at least 20 times.

The frame is available in 32 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 50×70 cm, and can also be made in custom sizes.

Glass

The glass affects both the look and the protection. In small formats, acrylic glass and standard glass cost the same, while real glass in large frames is more expensive because of packaging and shipping.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – light, shatterproof, and almost as clear as standard glass once the protective film is removed. With glare.

Standard glass – classic, clear, and sharp. With glare.

Non-reflective glass – reduces glare markedly with a slightly matte surface.

Museum glass – completely clear, low glare, and effective UV protection, so the colors are preserved for many years.

Passepartout

A passepartout requires the frame to be one format larger than what you want to frame. If, for example, you want a border of about 5 cm around a 20×30 cm artwork, the frame must measure 30×40 cm.

Passepartouts can be ordered in several color tones – though only in white and off-white when the format is larger than 81×110 cm.

Inner size

Measure your artwork precisely and subtract 1 cm from both width and height – that is your cutout size. A poster of 30×40 cm should therefore have a cutout size of 29×39 cm. The passepartout then overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds it securely in place. If you would rather have a reveal, where a little of the paper is visible, you can choose that in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The outer size of the passepartout is always equal to the size of the glass. The front edge of the frame overlaps the glass, passepartout, and backing board by about 5 mm, which is good to keep in mind.

Number of cutouts

You can have between 0 and 5 cutouts made in the passepartout. If you would like more, you are welcome to contact us. Zero cutouts is typically chosen when the work is to be placed on top of the board – an elegant way to show the entire edge, the signature, or the print marks.

Placement of the cutout

The cutout can be placed in three ways:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout is placed with symmetrical distance to the top and bottom.

Top-placed cutout: The same border width at the top and sides and a slightly wider border at the bottom.

Free placement: Here you control the placement yourself down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, while our preview shows what it looks like.

All passepartouts are made of 1,5 mm acid-free board in professional quality.
