About the frame

In our selection you will find both a classic aluminum frame for smaller sizes and this exclusive premium frame from Germany's Nielsen. The premium series has been developed with a focus on maximum stability, precise joints and a finish that places it among the most accomplished aluminum frames on the market.

The front profile in glossy silver has a slightly rounded shape and measures only 6 mm in width. The polished surface gives the frame an elegant, light-reflecting look that appears refined and discreet at the same time. The profile's depth of 20 mm supports the construction and ensures a solid feel — even in large formats.

Formats smaller than 30x30 cm are offered exclusively in our standard glossy silver aluminum frame.

Please note: The stated dimensions always correspond to the size of the glass and backing board. A 30×40 cm frame therefore fits a poster in the same format directly.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout between the artwork and the frame, choose the frame in a larger format than the artwork. With a border of approx. 5 cm, a 60×60 cm artwork fits in a 70×70 cm silver glossy premium aluminum frame.

Our passepartouts are available in a range of color shades. Above 81×110 cm, however, the choice is limited to white and off-white.

Cutout size

For the passepartout to hold the artwork correctly, we recommend a cutout size 1 cm smaller than the poster's dimensions. If, for example, you have a 30×40 cm poster, the right cutout size is 29×39 cm. The overlap of about 5 mm on each side ensures that the artwork stays in place and is easy to mount. If you would like a reveal edge, you can order it via our Frame Designer.

Outer size

On the outside, the passepartout always has the same dimensions as the glass. Remember that the front edge of the frame extends approx. 5 mm over the glass, passepartout and backing board.

Number of cutouts

Choose between 0-5 cutouts in the passepartout – and feel free to contact us if you would like more. A passepartout without cutouts is typically used when an artwork is to be mounted on top of the board, for example to show the entire paper edge or the signature.

Position of the cutout

You can choose between three positions:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout is centered so that the distance to the top and bottom is the same.

Top-positioned cutout: The same border width at the top and sides and a slightly wider border at the bottom.

Free choice: Here you control the position yourself down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and left side, while our preview shows what it looks like.

The passepartout for a silver glossy premium aluminum frame is made of high-quality 1,5 mm acid-free board.

Choice of glass

The glass is very important for both the experience and the protection. In aluminum frames, glass is generally more expensive than in wooden frames, as packaging and handling require extra care. Should transport damage occur against expectations, we will of course send a replacement.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

A lightweight and shatterproof material, well suited for large formats and homes with children. The clarity is close to that of standard glass, with similar reflection.

Standard glass

A classic choice with natural color rendering and distinct reflections, which gives a traditional glass look.

Non-reflective glass

Reduces glare significantly through a fine surface texture and improves visibility in bright surroundings.

Museum glass

The premium option with very low reflection and at least 70 % UV protection. The experience is almost glass-free, while the artwork is protected against fading.

Framing and hanging

The premium frame is fitted with two adjustable brackets on the back. The included cord makes it possible to hang the frame horizontally. You can also hang the frame directly on the two brackets.

How to mount the artwork:

Loosen the screws at all four corner brackets, and remove the brackets completely on one of the short sides.
Remove the spring clips under the rails.
Detach the short rail where the brackets have been completely removed.
Slide the glass and backing board out together.
Place the artwork between the backing board and the glass (remove any protective film from both sides of the acrylic glass).
Slide the unit back into the frame.
Refit the short rail and tighten its corners almost completely.
Put the spring clips in place under the rails.
Finish by tightening the corners completely.
