The Bayerische Zugspitzbahn is one of four cogwheels still in use in Germany. The line runs from the center of Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the Zugspitzplatt, about 300 meters below the Zugspitze. At 2,962 meters above sea level, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany and Germany's highest placed ski resort.
