About the frame

This matte gray wooden frame creates a calm and modern look, where the color gives a completely different mood than classic brown wooden frames. The cool, neutral gray tone adds a minimalist and understated touch that fits perfectly into contemporary rooms and Scandinavian surroundings. The matte finish eliminates reflections and highlights the clean lines of the frame without drawing focus from the artwork.

The profile is 15 mm slim with a front overlap of 5 mm, which gives a light and precise framing. Where brown frames add warmth, this gray variant gives a cleaner and more graphic impression that particularly complements modern posters, black-and-white artwork and art with muted colors.

The frame is made from solid ayous wood – a strong, stable and light material. The back is fitted with metal hangers for both vertical and horizontal hanging, and the flexible metal clips make it easy to change the artwork without wearing on the frame.

It is available in 37 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 70×100 cm and can also be ordered in a custom size if you need a tailor-made solution.

Glass

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – light and shatterproof, but with reflections.

Standard glass – classic glass with natural color rendering and visible reflections.

Non-reflective glass – reduces glare significantly and makes the artwork easy to see in rooms with a lot of light.

Museum glass – almost invisible, completely non-reflective and with at least 70% UV protection.

Passepartout

With a passepartout around the artwork, the format of the frame must be larger than the picture itself. If, for example, you have a poster of 40×40 cm and want a border of approximately 5 cm, you must choose the frame in 50×50 cm.

The passepartout is available in several colors to suit both your artwork and the frame. For sizes above 81×110 cm, only white and off-white can be ordered.

Inner size

For the passepartout to hold the artwork correctly, we recommend a cutout size 1 cm below the size of the poster. If, for example, you have a poster of 42×59,4 cm, the right cutout size is 41×58,4 cm. The overlap of approximately 5 mm on each side ensures that the artwork stays in place and is easy to mount. If you want a reveal edge, you can order it via our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The outer size of the passepartout always matches the size of the glass, so you do not need to enter it yourself. Remember that the glass, passepartout and backing board sit approx. 5 mm in under the front of the frame.

Number of cutouts

You freely choose the number of cutouts between 0 and 5 – feel free to contact us if you need more. The solution with zero cutouts is typically used for artworks that are to lie on top of the board, so the entire paper with signature and edge is visible.

Placement of the cutout

You can choose between three placements:

Centered cutout (standard): The same distance to the top and bottom – the classic solution.

Top-placed cutout: The cutout is moved upward with equal distance to the top and sides and extra space at the bottom.

Free placement: Choose the position of the cutout yourself by entering the distance from the top and the left edge. With our preview you can see at all times what the passepartout will look like.

All passepartouts are made from 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
