About the frame

This slim frame in deep green high gloss brings a touch of nature and calm into your home. The 13 mm slim molding has rounded edges that give a soft and elegant look, while the shiny surface reflects the light with an exclusive gleam. The dark green tone creates a harmonious contrast to both light and colorful artwork – and adds a pleasant feeling of refined coziness.

The frame is made from solid ayous wood, a hard and dimensionally stable material known for its durability and light weight. The solid construction makes the frame ideal for both small pictures and large posters. The back has metal hangers that give flexibility for hanging both vertically and horizontally, and the small metal clips (flexible tabs) make it easy to replace the contents. The front molding overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm – enough to hold everything securely in place without covering the artwork.

The frame is available in 32 standard sizes from 10x10 cm to 50x70 cm. In theory we can make it in larger formats, but it is a delicate slim frame, and we will not vouch for the quality if we ship a larger frame with this profile.

Choose the right glass

The glass plays a decisive role for both look and protection.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) is light, shatterproof and just as clear as standard glass once the protective film is removed from both sides.

Standard glass gives a natural, sharp rendering of colors and contrasts.

Non-reflective glass reduces glare significantly with its slightly matte surface – perfect in rooms with strong lighting.

Museum glass combines full clarity with maximum protection against both glare and UV rays, so your artwork stays beautiful for many years.

Passepartout

If you want to frame with a passepartout, the frame must always be ordered larger than the artwork. An example: An artwork of 40×40 cm with a passepartout border of around 5 cm requires a green glossy wooden frame in 50×50 cm.

The passepartout is available in several colors to suit both your artwork and the frame. For sizes above 81×110 cm, only white and off-white can be ordered.

Inner size (cutout size)

Measure your artwork accurately and subtract 1 cm in both width and height – that is your cutout size. A poster of 30×40 cm should therefore have a cutout size of 29×39 cm. The passepartout then overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds it securely in place. If you would rather have a reveal edge, where a little of the paper is visible, you can choose that in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The outer size of the passepartout always matches the size of the glass, so you do not need to enter it yourself. Remember that the glass, passepartout and backing board sit approx. 5 mm in under the front of the frame.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout can be ordered with between 0 and 5 cutouts. If you need more, please do contact us. If you choose 0 cutouts, the artwork is placed on top of the board, so the entire edge, the signature or any print marks remain visible.

Placement of the cutout

The cutout can be placed in three different ways:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout is placed symmetrically with the same border width at the top and bottom.

Top-placed cutout: Equal distance to the top and sides, which gives a wider border at the bottom.

Free placement: Here you can place the cutout exactly where you want it. You choose the distance from the top and the left side yourself, and you can follow how it looks at all times with our preview.

The passepartouts are made from 1,5 mm acid-free board, which protects your artwork over time.

Both companies and public institutions that need an invoice or EAN invoicing can write to us via email, chat or phone.

The payment is handled securely by Shopify Payments. The amount is only charged when the item is shipped. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice can be found in your PlakatKunst account under the relevant order.
