About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is ideal if you want a light and neutral expression that allows the artwork to stand out clearly. The surface is completely uniform and fully matte, hiding the wood structure entirely. The result is a sharp, modern frame with a calm, minimalist appearance. The profile measures 15 mm in both width and depth, and the 5 mm front overlap securely holds the motif in place without covering more than necessary.

The frame is available in all our fixed standard sizes. The dimensions always refer to the glass and backing plate, meaning that a 50×50 cm frame will fit a 50×50 cm poster precisely.

Glass

The glass plays a central role in both the visual experience and the long-term protection of your artwork. Below are the four glass types available for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A lightweight and shatterproof solution, ideal for larger formats and homes where safety is important. When the protective film is removed, the acrylic surface appears clear with reflections similar to regular glass.

Regular glass
The traditional option, offering strong colour reproduction and classic reflections that create a timeless appearance.

Non-reflective glass
A slightly matte surface that significantly reduces glare. Ideal in rooms with large windows, strong daylight or multiple light sources.

Museum glass
The most exclusive option. Almost invisible, minimising reflections and offering around 70% UV protection. Combined with the UV filtering found in modern windows, this provides excellent preservation of colours and details. It creates an impression close to viewing the artwork without glass – but with optimal protection.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

When choosing a passepartout, the frame must always be one size larger than the poster. Example: A 40×40 cm poster with an approx. 5 cm passepartout requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours. However, in sizes over 70×100 cm they are available only in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster’s actual height and width. For example, a 66×88 cm motif should use a 65×87 cm cutout. This gives an overlap of approx. 5 mm on all sides for secure and easy mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always match the dimensions of the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout sit approximately 5 mm behind the front edge of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three placements:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both the top and bottom for symmetrical placement.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, creating a wider bottom margin.

Passepartout without cutout: The poster is mounted on top of the cardboard — ideal if you want the full edge or a signature to remain visible.

All passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free, high-quality cardboard.

Payment & invoice

Companies and public institutions that require invoices or EAN billing are welcome to contact us via email, phone or chat.

Payments are processed securely through Shopify Payments. The amount is only deducted once the order has been shipped. The order confirmation is sent by email, and the invoice can be found in your PlakatKunst account.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on all standard items. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically to your measurements.

Damaged items
If you receive a damaged frame, we will replace it free of charge. Please send photos of the damage and the packaging to info@plakatkunst.dk.
