About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is ideal if you want light and neutral framing that lets the artwork stand out clearly. The surface is completely uniform and fully matte, so the grain of the wood cannot be seen. The result is a crisp and modern frame with a calm, minimalist look. The profile measures 15 mm in both width and depth, and the 5 mm overlap at the front holds the artwork securely in place without hiding more than necessary.

The frame is available in all our fixed standard sizes, and the dimensions always refer directly to the size of the glass and backing board. A frame measuring, for example, 50×50 cm therefore fits a poster of the same dimensions exactly.

Choosing glass

The glass is a central part of the experience — both visually and in terms of protecting your artwork. Below you will find the four types of glass that can be chosen for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

A lightweight and shatterproof solution that is especially suitable for large formats and homes where safety is a high priority. Once the protective film is removed, the acrylic glass has a clear and shiny surface reminiscent of standard glass.

Standard glass

The traditional choice with beautiful color reproduction and distinct reflections, which many associate with a classic and timeless look.

Non-reflective glass

A glass with a subtle matte texture that reduces bothersome glare. Ideal in rooms with a lot of light, large windows or many light sources.

Museum glass

The most exclusive type of glass. Museum glass appears almost invisible, minimizes reflections and provides around 70% UV protection. Together with the UV filters already found in modern windows, your artwork gets highly effective overall protection. It feels almost like viewing the artwork without glass — but with maximum preservation.

Choose the glass solution that matches both the artwork and the lighting conditions. It affects the overall impression much more than you might think at first.

Passepartout

With a passepartout around the artwork, the format of the frame must be larger than the picture itself. If, for example, you have a poster measuring 30×30 cm and want a border of approximately 5 cm, you should choose the frame in 40×40 cm.

Passepartouts can be ordered in several shades – but only in white and off-white when the format is larger than 81×110 cm.

Cutout size

The inner dimension should be 1 cm smaller than the size of the artwork. If you are framing a poster measuring 50×70 cm with a passepartout, the cutout size should therefore be 49×69 cm. That way the board overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm on all sides, which keeps the poster stable and makes it easy to mount. Outer dimension

The outer dimensions of the passepartout are always equal to the dimensions of the glass. The front edge of the frame overlaps the glass, passepartout and backing board by approximately 5 mm, which is worth keeping in mind.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout can be ordered with between 0 and 5 cutouts. If you need more, do not hesitate to contact us. If you choose 0 cutouts, the artwork is placed on top of the board, so the entire edge, the signature or any print marks remain visible.

Position of the cutout

You have three options to choose from:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout is centered, so the distance to the top and bottom is the same.

Top-positioned cutout: The distance to the top and sides is the same, which gives a visually balanced, wider bottom border.

Free choice: Here you control the position yourself down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, while our preview shows what it looks like.

For a white wooden frame, we cut the passepartout from 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
