About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is created for you who want a bright, calm and completely clean, minimalist look around your artwork. The white lacquer has a uniform, fully matte finish where the grain of the wood is completely hidden, so the frame appears sharp, minimalist and modern. The profile is built with a 20 mm wide front and an outer depth of 30 mm, and the 5 mm overlap of the front gives a precise, secure framing without covering more of the picture than necessary.

You can choose between all our standard sizes, and the sizes always match the dimensions of the glass and backing board. This means that a frame in e.g. 50×50 cm fits a poster of the same size perfectly.

If you want to use a passepartout, you need to go up one size in frame. An example: A 60×60 cm frame in combination with a passepartout for 50×50 cm gives a passepartout border approx. 5 cm wide all the way around. A passepartout can be added to all frames.

Choice of glass

The glass has a great influence on both the appearance and the durability of your framed artwork. Here is an overview of the four types of glass you can choose for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

A safe and lightweight choice, perfect for large formats and homes with children. The shatterproof material makes it easy to handle, and when the film is removed, you get a clear surface with the familiar reflections you also see in standard glass.

Standard glass

A classic choice of glass that gives sharp colors, good contrast and the visible reflections that often add a traditional, timeless look to the artwork.

Non-reflective glass

This glass has a slightly matte surface that reduces glare significantly. It makes the artwork easier to see in rooms with strong daylight, many lamps or large windows.

Museum glass

The most exclusive solution. Museum glass is almost completely invisible, minimizes reflections and provides around 70% UV protection, so the colors are preserved for many years. Together with the UV filters already found in modern windows, your artwork gets excellent overall protection. The experience is like seeing the artwork without glass — just with optimal preservation.

Choose the type of glass that best suits both the artwork and the lighting conditions — it makes a bigger difference to the overall impression than you would expect at first.

Passepartout

If your artwork is to have a passepartout, you choose the frame in a format that is larger than the artwork itself. A poster of 60×60 cm with approx. 5 cm of passepartout all the way around fits, for example, in a frame of 70×70 cm.

Passepartouts can be ordered in several shades – though only in white and off-white when the format is larger than 81×110 cm.

Inner dimensions

Start by measuring the artwork precisely. Then choose a cutout size that is 1 cm smaller than the poster – for artwork of 40×40 cm, that corresponds to a cutout size of 39×39 cm. With approx. 5 mm of overlap all the way around, the poster is held neatly and stably in place. If you prefer a reveal, it can be chosen in our Frame Designer.

Outer dimensions

On the outside, the passepartout always follows the dimensions of the glass in the frame. Be aware that the glass, backing board and passepartout are hidden approx. 5 mm under the front edge of the frame all the way around.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout can be ordered with between 0 and 5 cutouts. If you need more, please do contact us. If you choose 0 cutouts, the artwork is placed on top of the board, so the entire edge, the signature or any print marks remain visible.

Position of the cutout

You can choose between three positions:

Centered cutout (standard): The cutout is placed with a symmetrical distance to the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: The distance to the top and sides is the same, which gives a visually balanced, wider bottom border.

Free positioning: Place the cutout exactly where you want it. Enter the distance from the top and the left side, and see the result immediately in our preview.

We use 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality for all passepartouts.
