About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is designed for those who want a bright, calm and completely clean minimalist expression around their artwork. The white lacquer has a uniform, fully matte finish that completely hides the wood structure, giving the frame a sharp, modern and understated appearance. The profile features a 20 mm wide front and a 30 mm outer depth, and the 5 mm front overlap provides precise and secure framing without covering more of the motif than necessary.

You can choose from all our standard sizes, and the measurements always correspond to the dimensions of the glass and backing plate. This means that a 50×50 cm frame fits a 50×50 cm poster perfectly.

If you want to use a passepartout, you will need a larger frame size. Example: A 60×60 cm frame combined with a 50×50 cm passepartout creates an approx. 5 cm wide border around the motif. Passepartouts can be purchased for all frame sizes.

Glass

Glass has a major impact on both the appearance and longevity of your framed artwork. Below is an overview of the four types of glass available for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A safe, lightweight and shatterproof choice – ideal for large formats and homes with children. Once the protective film is removed, the surface appears clear with reflections similar to regular glass.

Regular glass
A classic option that provides sharp colours, strong contrast and the traditional reflections that give the artwork a timeless appearance.

Non-reflective glass
This slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare, making the motif easier to view in rooms with strong daylight, many lamps or large windows.

Museum glass
The most exclusive solution. Almost invisible, with minimal reflections and around 70% UV protection, ensuring colours remain vibrant for many years. Combined with the UV protection found in modern windows, your artwork receives excellent overall preservation. The viewing experience is close to seeing the motif without glass – only with optimal protection.

Compare the four types of glass

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

When using a passepartout, the frame must always be one size larger than the motif itself. Example: A 40×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approx. 5 cm requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours. However, formats larger than 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller in both width and height. For example, a 66×88 cm motif requires a 65×87 cm cutout. This provides an overlap of approx. 5 mm all around, making mounting easier and keeping the motif securely in place.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always match the size of the glass in the frame. Note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout sit approximately 5 mm behind the front profile of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three cutout placements:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both the top and bottom for a harmonious appearance.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, creating a noticeably wider bottom border.

Passepartout without cutout: Delivered as a full sheet. The poster is mounted on top – ideal when you want to show the full motif, including signatures or edge markings.

All passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free, high-quality cardboard.

Companies and public institutions requiring invoices or EAN billing are welcome to contact us via email, phone or chat.

Payments are handled securely through Shopify Payments. The amount is only charged once the order has been dispatched. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice will be available in your PlakatKunst account.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on standard products. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically to your chosen measurements.

Damaged items
If your frame arrives damaged, we will of course send a replacement at no extra cost. Please send photos of the packaging and the damage to info@plakatkunst.dk.
