About the frame

The matte purple frame exudes calm, depth and refined elegance. The colour lies between violet and plum – dark, muted and exclusive – and adds a warm, artistic presence to any wall. It is a stylish alternative to the classic black picture frame, revealing new nuances in both colourful motifs and minimalist art. The narrow 15 mm profile and the 5 mm front overlap provide a precise, harmonious edge that lets the image stand out without distraction.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood, a lightweight and dimensionally stable material known for its long durability. On the back you’ll find metal brackets for both vertical and horizontal hanging, and flexible metal clips that allow you to change the artwork repeatedly without affecting the frame’s strength.

Glass

The choice of glass is essential for both protection and the visual experience:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – lightweight, shatterproof and clear when the protective film is removed, with reflections similar to regular glass.

Regular glass – the classic choice with natural colour reproduction and visible reflections.

Non-reflective glass – significantly reduces glare thanks to its slightly matte surface, ideal in bright rooms.

Museum glass – the most exclusive solution: almost invisible, non-reflective and with high UV protection to preserve colours for many years.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If your poster is to be framed with a passepartout, the frame must always be larger than the motif itself. Example: A 40×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approx. 5 cm requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours, but formats above 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster as accurately as possible and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the actual size of the motif. For example, a poster measuring 66×88 cm should use a cutout of 65×87 cm. This provides approx. 5 mm overlap all the way around for stable, secure mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always follow the size of the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, passepartout and backing plate sit approx. 5 mm behind the front profile of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three options:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to top and bottom for a balanced placement.

Top-positioned cutout: Equal distance to top and sides, giving a wider passepartout edge at the bottom.

Passepartout without cutout: The motif is placed on top of the cardboard — ideal if you want to show the entire poster edge or a signature.

All passepartouts are cut from high-quality, acid-free 1.5 mm cardboard.

Returns

You always have a 100-day return policy.

If you wish to return an item, simply write to info@plakatkunst.dk. A return label is included in the package, and the return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund.

If the frame is damaged upon arrival, we will of course send a replacement free of charge.
