About the frame

This light oak veneer frame is designed for anyone who wants a soft, Nordic expression with a clean and harmonious finish. The light wood tone gives the frame a warm and calming appearance that fits beautifully into both minimalist Scandinavian interiors and more colourful homes. The surface has a natural wood character reminiscent of real oak – but without the large variations found in solid wood.

The frame profile measures 15 mm in width and 15 mm in outer depth, creating an elegant, slim edge that highlights the motif without appearing heavy. The front overlaps the glass and backing plate by 5 mm, ensuring that the poster stays securely in place and giving the frame a precise, well-balanced finish.

On the back you will find sturdy metal brackets, allowing the frame to be hung both vertically and horizontally. The construction is lightweight yet stable, and the veneer ensures a refined surface that keeps its appearance for many years.

This frame is especially well-suited for motifs with soft or bright colours. The light wood tone works as a natural, neutral complement that lets colours, contrasts and fine details stand out without competing with the frame.

Glass

Glass plays a crucial role in both the visual impression and durability of your framed artwork. Each type of glass creates its own unique expression:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and safe – ideal for large formats or homes with children. When the protective film is removed, the surface is clear with the familiar reflections you also know from regular glass.

Regular glass
The classic option if you want sharp, natural clarity. The visible reflections give the artwork a traditional and lively expression, especially in calm surroundings without too much direct light.

Non-reflective glass
The slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare, making the motif visible from many more angles. Perfect in bright rooms with large windows or direct lighting.

Museum glass
The most exclusive solution. Almost invisible, with minimal reflections and at least 70% UV protection. Colours and details remain vibrant for many years, and the motif appears almost as if there were no glass in front at all.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you want to use a passepartout, you must always choose a frame that is larger than the poster itself. Example: A 24×24 cm poster with a 3 cm passepartout fits perfectly in a 30×30 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colour tones, although formats larger than 70×100 cm are available only in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster very precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster in both height and width. For example, if your motif measures 66×88 cm, we recommend a cutout of 65×87 cm. This provides an overlap of approximately 5 mm on all sides, ensuring secure and easy mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always correspond to the size of the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout sit approximately 5 mm behind the front profile of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three placement options:

Centered cutout (default): Symmetrical distance to both top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, creating extra passepartout width at the bottom.

Passepartout without cutout: Delivered as a full sheet. The poster is mounted on top – ideal if you want to show the entire motif, including printing marks and signatures.

All passepartouts are made from high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on all standard items. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are made specifically to your measurements.

Damaged items
If your frame arrives damaged, we will of course replace it at no extra cost. Please send photos of both the packaging and the damage to info@plakatkunst.dk.
