About the frame

A wooden frame in warm, glowing oak veneer is an obvious choice for you if you want the natural character of wood, but also a more predictable and harmonious look than you get with solid oak. The veneer gives an even surface with a gentle play of grain that fits into both modern and classic surroundings.

The profile is built with a 20 mm wide front and a 30 mm outer depth, which gives the frame a beautiful, striking volume without appearing heavy. The front overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm, so the artwork sits securely and precisely in the frame.

You can choose the frame in all our standard sizes, and the sizes always refer to the glass/backing board – that is, the size your poster must have to fit in the frame.

The frame comes with integrated hanging fittings, so you can easily choose between vertical and horizontal mounting. This gives you the freedom to adapt the presentation to both the format of the artwork and the wall it will hang on.

Glass

The glass is crucial for both the presentation and the protection of your artwork. Each type of glass creates its very own visual experience:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
The light and shatterproof solution. Ideal for large frames, children's rooms or places where the frame may be exposed. Once the film is removed, it has a clarity and reflections that resemble standard glass.

Standard glass
The classic choice for you if you want sharp and natural color reproduction. The distinct reflections give the artwork a lively, traditional look.

Non-reflective glass
The matte surface reduces glare significantly, so the artwork appears clearly even in rooms with strong daylight or direct lighting. The colors retain their strength, but are presented in a calmer tone.

Museum glass
The most premium solution. Almost completely invisible, with minimal reflections and up to 70 % UV protection. It gives an experience that almost feels like seeing the artwork without glass – just with far better preservation of colors and details.

Passepartout

A passepartout requires the frame to be one size larger than what you want to frame. If, for example, you want a border of approximately 5 cm around a 50×70 cm artwork, the frame must measure 60×80 cm.

You can choose between several passepartout colors. In sizes larger than 81×110 cm, however, they are made exclusively in white and off-white.

Cutout size

We recommend that you measure your artwork precisely and choose a cutout size that is 1 cm smaller. For a 50×70 cm poster, this means a cutout size of 49×69 cm, so the passepartout overlaps by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds the artwork securely. If you want a reveal edge, you can select it in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The outer size of the passepartout always matches the size of the glass, so you do not need to enter it yourself. Remember that the glass, passepartout and backing board sit approx. 5 mm in under the front of the frame.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout can be ordered with between 0 and 5 cutouts. If you need more, please do contact us. If you choose 0 cutouts, the artwork is placed on top of the board, so the entire edge, the signature or any print marks remain visible.

Position of the cutout

There are three positions to choose from:

Centered cutout (standard): Symmetrical placement with equal distance to the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: The distance to the top and sides is the same, which gives a visually balanced, wider bottom border.

Free choice: Choose the position of the cutout yourself by entering the distance from the top and the left edge. With our preview, you can always see what the passepartout will look like.

All our passepartouts are made of high-quality 1,5 mm acid-free board.
