About the frame
This oak-veneered wooden frame is an excellent choice if you want the natural character of wood, but prefer a more uniform and harmonious appearance than solid oak can offer. The hot-annealed oak veneer provides a beautifully consistent surface with a subtle wood grain that works well in both modern and classic interiors.
The profile has a 20 mm wide front and a 30 mm outer depth, giving the frame a distinct, elegant volume without appearing heavy. The front overlaps the glass and backing plate by 5 mm, ensuring that your poster sits securely and accurately within the frame.
You can choose this frame in all of our standard sizes. The size always refers to the dimensions of the glass and backing plate – meaning the size your poster must match.
The frame is fitted with integrated metal brackets for both vertical and horizontal hanging, allowing you to adapt the presentation to your wall and your motif.
Glass
Glass significantly influences both the visual impression and the long-term preservation of your artwork. Each glass type creates its own atmosphere and level of protection:
Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A lightweight and shatterproof choice. Ideal for large formats, children’s rooms, or places where the frame may be exposed. When the protective film is removed, acrylic glass offers clarity similar to regular glass – with natural reflections.
Regular glass
The traditional option if you want sharp, natural colour reproduction. Its clear reflections often add a sense of depth and vibrancy, especially in rooms without too much direct light.
Non-reflective glass
The slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare, allowing the motif to be viewed clearly from more angles – even in bright rooms with direct light. Colours remain true, but with a softer, calmer appearance.
Museum glass
The premium choice. Almost invisible, with minimal reflections and at least 70% UV protection. It provides a viewing experience close to seeing the artwork without glass at all – while preserving colours, contrasts and fine details for many years.
Compare the four types of glass
Passepartout / Mat / Mount
A passepartout adds visual depth and elegance to your framing. It creates a refined space between the motif and the glass, highlights the artwork, and prevents the poster from resting directly against the glass – which is essential for both appearance and longevity.
Our passepartouts are cut from high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard and are available in several carefully coordinated colours. Each colour has its own subtle texture, allowing you to find the perfect match for both your motif and your frame.
When using a passepartout, the chosen frame must always be larger than the poster. For example, a 34×34 cm poster fits perfectly in a 40×40 cm frame – or a 44×44 cm frame if you prefer a more airy and pronounced look.
Cutout
Measure your poster precisely. The cutout should be 1 cm smaller in both width and height than the poster itself. This ensures an overlap of approx. 5 mm around the edges, preventing the artwork from slipping through. A 34×34 cm poster therefore requires a cutout of 33×33 cm.
Outer dimensions
You do not need to specify the outer dimensions. They always correspond to the exact size of the glass in the frame.
Cutout position
You can choose between three cutout positions:
- Centered cutout: Equal distance to the top and bottom for a clean, balanced look.
- Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, giving a wider bottom border and a more contemporary expression.
- Without cutout: Delivered as a solid sheet. The poster is mounted on top – perfect for showing signatures, edge marks, or the full artwork.
