About the frame

This picture frame features an exclusive dark smoked oak veneer, showcasing the wood’s natural grain and rich colour variations. The veneer is carefully matched so that the grain flows harmoniously around the entire frame, creating a cohesive appearance with close attention to detail.

The dark smoked finish gives the oak a distinctive, elegant tone that balances classic and contemporary styles. The shades naturally vary from one moulding to another, making each frame unique. The colour works particularly well with black-and-white photographs, modern art prints and original vintage posters, adding warmth without overpowering the artwork.

The frame profile measures 20 mm across the front and 30 mm in depth. The extra depth gives the frame a striking presence on the wall and emphasises its quality and solid craftsmanship. The front edge overlaps the glass and backing board by 5 mm, keeping the artwork securely in place without hiding more of the image than necessary.

All frames are made to order in our Danish framing workshop. When choosing a size, you always specify the dimensions of the glass and backing board. Your frame is therefore made to fit the exact size of the poster, photograph or artwork you wish to frame.

On the back, versatile hanging fittings allow you to hang the frame in either portrait or landscape orientation. Practical metal clips also make it easy to change the artwork if you would like a fresh look later on.

Glass

The glass helps define both how the artwork is viewed and the finished result. You can therefore choose between four different options, depending on where the frame will hang and your requirements for reflections, weight and protection.

Acrylic glass
Acrylic glass is significantly lighter than standard glass and does not shatter. This makes it a popular choice for larger frames or wherever low weight is an advantage. Once the protective film is removed, the surface is clear and transparent.

Standard glass
Traditional glass with high transparency and natural colour reproduction. Its reflections create a classic look and give the artwork life and depth.

Non-reflective glass
This glass significantly reduces glare, making it easier to enjoy your artwork in rooms with plenty of daylight. Particularly suitable near windows or other light sources.

Museum glass
The most exclusive choice in our range. Museum glass is almost invisible in front of the artwork and significantly minimises reflections. It also filters out at least 70% of harmful UV radiation, helping to preserve art and posters.

Passepartout

A passepartout requires a frame larger than the artwork you wish to frame. For example, if you would like a border of approximately 5 cm around a 50×50 cm artwork, you will need a 60×60 cm frame.

Several colours are available. For sizes larger than 81×110 cm, however, the passepartout is only available in white or off-white.

Internal dimensions

Start by measuring your artwork accurately. Then choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster in both width and height – for a 30×40 cm artwork, this means a 29×39 cm cutout. The overlap of approximately 5 mm on each side keeps the poster neatly and securely in place. If you prefer a coloured reveal, you can select one in our frame designer.

External dimensions

The external dimensions are adjusted automatically, as they always match the dimensions of the glass. The glass, passepartout and backing board sit approximately 5 mm beneath the front edge of the frame profile.

Number of cutouts

You can choose between 0 and 5 cutouts – please contact us if you need more. An uncut passepartout is typically used for artworks placed on top of the board, allowing the entire sheet, including its signature and edges, to remain visible.

Cutout position

Choose between three positioning options:

Centred cutout (standard): The cutout is positioned symmetrically, with equal border widths at the top and bottom.

Top-aligned cutout: The top and side borders are equal, creating a visually balanced, wider bottom border.

Free positioning: Position the cutout exactly where you want it. You choose the distance from the top and left edges and can see the result at any time in our preview.

All passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.

If you need an invoice for a business, association or public institution, we also offer invoicing via an EAN number.

All payments are processed securely through Shopify Payments. The amount is reserved when you place your order and only collected when your order is dispatched from our workshop. Your order confirmation and invoice are sent automatically by email.
