About the frame

This elegant picture frame features smoked oak veneer with a deep, almost black wood tone. The slim profile measures 15 mm in both width and depth, giving your artwork a refined and elegant look. The veneer wraps seamlessly around the entire frame profile, creating a beautiful, uniform appearance.

The frame is made to order in our Danish framing workshop. It is available in both custom sizes and standard sizes up to 70×100 cm. The dimensions you choose always refer to the internal size – the dimensions of the glass and backing board, which should match your artwork precisely.

All frames come with fittings for both portrait and landscape hanging. Models up to and including 24×30 cm also feature a removable stand, allowing you to display the frame on a shelf, desk or sideboard.

Glass

The right glass makes a significant difference to both the protection of your artwork and the finished appearance. You can therefore choose between four different glass types, each with its own characteristics.

Acrylic glass (Plexiglas)
A lightweight, impact-resistant option, particularly suitable for large frames or wherever low weight is an advantage. Once the protective film is removed, the surface is clear, with reflections similar to those of standard glass.

Standard glass
Traditional clear glass with high transparency and beautiful reproduction of your artwork’s colours. Its natural reflections give the framing a classic look.

Non-reflective glass
This glass has a matt surface that significantly reduces glare. It is particularly suitable for rooms with plenty of daylight or positions near windows.

Museum glass
Our most exclusive glass option. The glass is almost invisible, effectively minimises reflections and protects your artwork by filtering out at least 70% of UV rays. An excellent choice for original artworks, lithographs and other valuable pieces.

Passepartout

If you would like a passepartout around your artwork, choose a frame larger than the artwork itself. For example, a 30×40 cm poster with a passepartout border of approximately 5 cm requires a 40×50 cm frame.

Passepartouts are available in several colours, although only white and off-white are available for sizes larger than 81×110 cm.

Cutout dimensions

To ensure that the passepartout holds your artwork properly, we recommend a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster in both width and height. For a 70×100 cm poster, for example, the correct cutout size is 69×99 cm. The overlap of approximately 5 mm on each side keeps the artwork in place and makes it easy to mount. If you would like a coloured reveal, you can order it through our frame designer.

External dimensions

The external dimensions of the passepartout always match those of the glass. The front edge of the frame overlaps the glass, passepartout and backing board by approximately 5 mm, which is worth bearing in mind when planning your framing.

Number of cutouts

You can choose between 0 and 5 cutouts in your passepartout. If you would like more, please contact us. An uncut passepartout is typically used when an artwork is placed on top of the board – perfect for showing the entire edge of the artwork, a signature or plate marks.

Cutout position

The cutout can be positioned in three different ways:

Centred cutout (standard): The cutout sits in the centre of the passepartout, with equal space above and below.

Top-aligned cutout: Equal space above and on both sides creates a slightly wider border at the bottom.

Free choice: Perfect if you have a particular position in mind. You choose the distance from the top and left edges, and our preview continuously shows the result.

All passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
