About the frame

The matte dark blue surface gives the frame an exclusive and balanced look. The color adds a cool calm that makes light artworks stand out clearly – while also bringing depth and character to the wall. It is a color that can appear both classic and bold, depending on the artwork it frames.

The profile is 13 mm deep with a 15 mm slim front that extends 5 mm in over the glass, so everything is held securely in place without stealing focus from the picture.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood – a hard and dimensionally stable material that combines low weight with high strength. It is suitable for both small pictures and large posters, and the precise joints give a sharp, clean look. The back is fitted with metal fittings, so the frame can easily be hung both vertically and horizontally. The flexible metal clips make it possible to change the artwork many times – without the frame losing its grip.

Glass

The glass is of great importance for both look and protection. Choose the best solution for your framing.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – lightweight, break-resistant and just as clear as standard glass once the film is removed.

Standard glass – classic clarity with natural color rendering.

Non-reflective glass – reduces glare markedly thanks to a faintly matte surface. Ideal for rooms with strong light.

Museum glass – the most exclusive solution, almost invisible and with double UV protection, so your artwork stays beautiful for many years.

Compare the four glass types and choose the solution that best highlights your artwork and suits the light in the room.

Passepartout

If you choose to add a passepartout, the frame must be larger than your artwork. For a poster measuring 50×50 cm with around 5 cm of passepartout, for example, you need a frame in 60×60 cm.

Our passepartouts come in a range of color shades. Above 81×110 cm, however, the choice is limited to white and off-white.

Inner size

We recommend that you measure your artwork precisely and choose a cutout size that is 1 cm smaller. For a poster measuring 70×100 cm, this means a cutout size of 69×99 cm, so the passepartout overlaps by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds the artwork securely. If you want a reveal border, it can be selected in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

The outer size is adjusted automatically, as it is always the same as the size of the glass. The glass, passepartout and backing board extend around 5 mm in under the front profile of the frame.

Number of cutouts

You decide for yourself whether the passepartout should have 0, 1 or up to 5 cutouts. If more are needed, you are welcome to write to us. Without cutouts, the artwork is laid on top of the board – ideal for art prints where the entire edge or the signature should be visible.

Position of the cutout

Choose between three types of positioning:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to the top and bottom gives a classic, balanced look.

Top-positioned cutout: The same border width at the top and sides and a slightly wider border at the bottom.

Free positioning: Perfect if you have a particular position in mind. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, and our preview shows the result at all times.

The passepartout for a dark blue matte wooden frame is made from 1,5 mm acid-free board of high quality.
