About the frame

Intense without being garish. The red wooden frame adds warmth and personality to both modern graphic works and classic posters. A frame that can give your wall something extra – a colorful statement that can be both dramatic and elegant.

With its slim 15 mm profile and 5 mm front overlap, it frames the piece slenderly yet solidly. The outer depth is 13 mm.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood, known for its strength and low weight. It can be hung both vertically and horizontally with the solid metal fittings, and the flexible metal clips on the back make it easy to replace the artwork many times.

Available in 37 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 70×100 cm and can also be ordered in a custom size here.

Glass

• Acrylic glass (plexiglass) – light, shatter-free and with reflections when the light hits it.

• Standard glass – clear and classic, but with visible reflections.

• Non-reflective glass – reduces glare significantly, perfect for rooms with a lot of light.

• Museum glass – almost invisible and unrivaled in clarity and UV protection.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout around your artwork, the frame itself must be chosen in a larger format than the artwork. For example, a 40×40 cm poster with an approximately 5 cm passepartout requires a frame in 50×50 cm.

You can choose between several passepartout colors. In formats larger than 81×110 cm, however, they are made exclusively in white and off-white.

Inner size

The inner size should be 1 cm smaller than the size of your artwork. If you are framing a 50×70 cm poster with a passepartout, the cutout size should therefore be 49×69 cm. This way, the board overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm on all sides, which keeps the poster stable and makes it easy to mount. If you would prefer a reveal edge instead, you can select it in our Frame Designer.

Outer size

On the outside, the passepartout always follows the dimensions of the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, backing board and passepartout are hidden approx. 5 mm under the front edge of the frame all the way around.

Number of cutouts

You decide for yourself whether the passepartout should have 0, 1 or up to 5 cutouts. If more are needed, you are welcome to write to us. Without cutouts, the artwork is laid on top of the board – ideal for art prints where the entire edge or the signature should be seen.

Position of the cutout

You can choose between three positions:

Centered cutout (standard): Symmetrical placement with equal distance to the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Equal distance to the top and sides, which gives a wider border at the bottom.

Free placement: Place the cutout exactly where you want it. Specify the distance from the top and the left side, and see the result right away in our preview.

For a red matte wooden frame, we cut the passepartout in 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
