About the frame

This elegant glossy black frame combines finesse with strength. With a slim 13 mm profile and softly rounded edges, it has a light and modern appearance, while the deep black high-gloss lacquer gives both the frame and the motif an exclusive, reflective glow. The surface is completely smooth, enhancing the clean and contemporary look.

The frame is made of solid ayous wood — a stable, durable and lightweight material that ensures long-lasting quality. Whether you are framing a small photograph or a larger poster, the glossy black finish adds modern elegance to any wall.

You can choose from 37 standard sizes ranging from 10×10 cm to 60×80 cm. The back features metal brackets for vertical and horizontal hanging, and flexible metal clips make it easy to change the contents. The front profile overlaps the glass and backing by 5 mm, ensuring everything stays securely in place without covering more of the image than necessary.

Glass

The choice of glass has a major influence on both appearance and long-term protection.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and almost as clear as normal glass once the protective film is removed.

Normal glass
Provides classic, crystal-clear colour reproduction with natural reflections.

Non-reflective glass
Reduces glare significantly thanks to its slightly matte surface — ideal for rooms with many light sources.

Museum glass
Combines maximum clarity with minimal glare and effective UV protection, helping colours stay vibrant for many years.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

When using a mount, the frame must always be chosen one size larger than the poster. For example: A 40×40 cm poster with a mount width of approx. 5 cm requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours, although formats larger than 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller in both height and width. For example, a poster measuring 66×88 cm should use a 65×87 cm cutout. This gives approx. 5 mm overlap all the way around for secure and neat mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always match the glass size of the frame. Please note that the glass, mount and backing plate typically sit approx. 5 mm behind the front profile.

Cutout position

You can choose between three options:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both top and bottom for a balanced look.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to top and sides, leaving a wider border at the bottom.

Passepartout without cutout: The poster is mounted on top of the cardboard — ideal when you want the entire edge or a signature visible.

All passepartouts are cut from high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.

Companies and public institutions that require invoices or EAN billing can contact us via chat, email or phone.

Payment is processed securely through Shopify Payments. The amount is only charged when the order has been shipped. Your order confirmation is sent by email, and the invoice is available in your PlakatKunst account under the relevant order.

Shipping & returns

All frames are produced to order in our Danish workshop. We usually dispatch within a few business days, although production times may be slightly longer during busy periods.

Return

You have a 100-day return policy.

If you wish to return an item, simply contact info@plakatkunst.dk. A return label is included in the package, and the return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund.

If your frame arrives damaged, we will replace it at no extra cost.
