About the frame

We offer two types of aluminum frames: a standard model for smaller posters and this premium frame from German Nielsen, which is probably the most stable aluminum frame on the market.

The extremely narrow and slightly curved front profile of only 6 mm with its matte surface gives an elegant and minimalist expression without compromising on strength - even in the largest formats. The brushed side is 20 mm deep.

We only offer standard formats smaller than 30x30 with our standard aluminum frame.

If you want other dimensions, you can also buy the black premium aluminum frame with custom dimensions.

NOTE: Please note that the frame sizes always indicate the dimensions of the glass and backing plate, so a frame of, for example, 40×60 cm fits perfectly for a poster of the same size.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout, the frame must be one size larger than the poster itself. Example: If you have a 40x60 cm poster that you want framed with a 5 cm wide passepartout, you should choose a 50x70 cm frame with passepartout.

We can supply passe-partouts in several colors, but only white is offered for frames larger than 70×100 cm.

Internal dimension

Measure your poster exactly and choose an inside measurement that is 1 cm smaller than the poster measurement. For example, if your poster measures 66×88 cm, we recommend 65×87 cm. This way, the mount overlaps the picture by 0.5 cm all the way around.

Exterior dimensions

The external dimensions always match the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, back plate and passepartout extend approximately 5 mm below the front of the frame.

Location of the hole

You can choose between:

• Centered hole (standard) - same distance to top and bottom.

• Hole placed at the top, with equal distance to the top and sides - and thus more passepartout width at the bottom.

• Passepartout without a hole, where the poster is mounted on top of the cardboard – perfect if you want to show the entire motif including any edge marks or signature.

We use 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard for all passe-partouts.

Glass selection

The glass is of great importance for both expression and preservation. In aluminum frames, real glass is considerably more expensive than in wooden frames, as the combination of metal and glass requires much more from us in terms of both packaging and shipping - and even when we do our best, the risk of the glass breaking is much greater than with wooden frames. We will of course send new glass (and possibly frame) if the accident occurs, and this cost is also included in the prices.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

The lightest and safest choice. Shatterproof, almost weightless in large formats and perfect for homes with children. The clarity is close to regular glass, including the familiar reflections.

Ordinary glass

The classic look with natural color reproduction and clear reflections. Good in rooms with calm or dim light.

Anti-reflective glass

A slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare and provides better visibility in rooms with a lot of light, large windows or direct lamps.

Museum glass

The absolute best quality. Almost invisible, minimal reflection and at least 70% UV protection. Together with the UV filters of modern windows, museum glass provides sufficient preservation of the colors. The effect is similar to seeing the subject without glass at all – just with long-lasting protection.

Framing and hanging

The premium aluminum frames have two removable brackets on the back. Attach the included string and hang the frame horizontally.

How to put the poster in the frame:

1. Loosen all corner screws and completely remove the two brackets at one of the shortest strips.

2. Remove the clamps under the strip that hold the back plate in place.

3. Remove one of the shortest lists.

4. Slide out the glass and back plate as one unit.

5. Place the poster between the glass and the back plate.

6. Push it all back into the frame.

7. Reattach the strip by screwing the two corners almost completely tight.

8. Put the small buckles in place so that the back plate is held tightly against the glass.

9. Screw all corners back on completely.

Shipping & delivery

We produce all frames to order at our Danish frame workshop. Delivery time is usually a week on weekdays, but during busy periods it may take a little longer.

When the frame is shipped with GLS, delivery usually takes 1 day.

Frames larger than 70×100 cm cannot be sent to a parcel shop - they are delivered by courier directly to your address and typically arrive after 1-2 days.

Return

You have a 100-day return policy.

Contact us at info@plakatkunst.dk with your request for a return. The return label is already in the box you received. The shipping costs will be deducted from the refund.

If you receive a defective frame, we will of course send you a new one free of charge.
