About the frame

A slim and elegant black picture frame in solid ayous wood, where quality and simplicity go hand in hand. The profile measures 15 mm in both width and outer depth, and the matte black lacquer provides a smooth, uniform finish that completely hides the wood structure. The dense ayous wood ensures a durable, long-lasting frame – perfect for everything from small art prints to larger posters.

The frame is available in 37 standard sizes from 10×10 cm to 60×80 cm. On the back, metal brackets allow easy vertical or horizontal hanging. The front profile overlaps the glass and backing plate by 5 mm, ensuring the motif sits securely without the edge drawing attention.

Glass

The choice of glass has great influence on both the appearance and the long-term preservation of your artwork.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight, shatterproof and almost as clear as regular glass once the protective film is removed.

Regular glass
Provides natural clarity and a classic, crisp appearance.

Non-reflective glass
Its slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare – ideal in bright rooms with strong daylight or direct lighting.

Museum glass
The premium option. Clear like regular glass, but with minimal reflections and at least 70% UV protection, helping your posters maintain colours and details for many years.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you want a passepartout around your poster, the frame must always be chosen in a larger format than the motif itself. Example: A 40×40 cm poster with a passepartout of approx. 5 cm requires a 50×50 cm frame.

Passepartouts are available in several colours, although formats larger than 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller in both width and height than the poster. For example, a motif measuring 66×88 cm requires a cutout of 65×87 cm. This gives an overlap of approx. 5 mm around the edges, ensuring the poster stays securely in place.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always correspond to the size of the glass in the frame. Note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout sit approximately 5 mm behind the front of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three cutout positions:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both the top and bottom.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, giving a wider bottom margin.

Passepartout without cutout: Delivered as a full sheet. The poster is placed on top – ideal if you want to show the entire edge of the poster, including signatures or print marks.

All passepartouts are made from high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.

Companies and public institutions that require invoices or EAN billing are welcome to contact us via email, phone or chat.

Payments are handled securely through Shopify Payments, and the amount is only deducted once your order has been shipped. You will receive an order confirmation via email, and the invoice will be available in your PlakatKunst account.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on all standard products. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically according to your measurements.

Damaged items
If your frame arrives damaged, we will of course replace it at no extra cost. Please send photos of both the packaging and the damage to info@plakatkunst.dk.
