About the frame

This matte black wooden frame is an obvious choice for those who want a simple, elegant and contemporary black frame. The deep matte varnish completely covers the natural structure of the wood, so the frame appears completely smooth and rigorous in expression. The profile consists of a 20 mm wide front and a total external depth of 20 mm, and the 5 mm overlap on the front ensures a stable and precise hold of the motif without taking up too much of the picture surface.

The frame is available in all our standard sizes. The dimensions always refer to the size of the glass and backing plate, so a 40×60 cm frame will fit a 40×60 cm poster exactly.

If you want a passepartout, the frame itself must be larger than the poster. Example: A 50×70 cm frame combined with a 40×60 cm passepartout gives a passepartout border of approximately 5 cm all the way around. Passepartout can be added to any frame.

Glass selection

The glass is of great importance for both the overall impression and durability. For this frame you can choose between four different types of glass, each of which gives a special result:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A lightweight and shatterproof solution that is particularly suitable for large formats and families with children. When the protective film is removed, the acrylic glass appears clear with an appearance reminiscent of regular glass.

Normal glass
A traditional type of glass that provides strong colors, clear contrast and the classic reflections that often emphasize a timeless look.

Non-reflective glass
Has a slightly matte surface that significantly reduces glare. It is ideal in rooms with a lot of daylight, many light sources or large windows, where reflections can easily disrupt the experience of the subject.

Museum glass
The most luxurious solution. Museum glass is almost invisible, strongly dampens reflections and offers approx. 70% UV protection. In combination with the UV filters already found in modern windows, it ensures extremely good preservation of colors and paper. The experience is almost the same as seeing the subject without glass - only with optimal protection.

Choose the glass that best suits your motif and the surroundings in which it will hang - the difference is often much greater than you imagine.

Compare the different types of glass

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

When choosing a mount for your poster, the frame should always be one size larger than the image itself. Example: A 40×40 cm poster with a mount width of around 5 cm should be placed in a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer several colors of passepartouts, but in formats larger than 70×100 cm we can only produce them in white.

Cutout

For the best result, you should measure your poster very precisely and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster size. For example, if you have a 60×80 cm poster, we recommend a cutout of 59×79 cm. This gives an overlap of approx. 5 mm all the way around and ensures easy and stable mounting.

Outer dimensions

The external dimensions of the mount always match the dimensions of the glass in the frame. Please note that both the mount, glass and backing plate slide approximately 5 mm under the front of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three different cuts:

Centered cutout (standard): The distance to the top and bottom is identical, so the cutout appears completely symmetrical.

Top-positioned cutout: The cutout is the same distance from the top and sides, while there is a larger edge at the bottom.

Passepartout without cutout: Having the full piece of passepartout cardbord lets you mount your poster on top of the cardboard — ideal for motifs where you want to show the entire edge or any signatures.

All passepartouts are made of 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Companies and public institutions that need invoices or EAN invoicing can contact us via email, chat or telephone.

Payment is handled securely via Shopify Payments. The amount is only deducted when the order is shipped. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice is in your PlakatKunst account under the order.

Shipping & returns

All frames are produced to order in our Danish workshop. We usually ship within a few business days, but there may be a little extra waiting time during busy periods.

Returns

There is a 100-day return policy on all purchases.

If you wish to return, simply contact us at info@plakatkunst.dk. A return label is included in the package, and the return shipping will be deducted from the refund.

If you receive a damaged frame, we will of course replace it free of charge.
