About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is designed for those who want a bright, calm and completely clean, minimalist expression around their artwork. The white lacquer has a uniform, fully matte finish that completely hides the wood structure, giving the frame a sharp, modern and understated look. The profile has a 20 mm wide front and a 20 mm outer depth, and the 5 mm front overlap provides precise and secure framing without covering more of the motif than necessary.

You can choose from all our standard sizes, and the measurements always refer to the dimensions of the glass and backing plate. This means that a 50×50 cm frame fits a 50×50 cm poster perfectly.

Glass

The choice of glass has a major impact on both the visual appearance and long-term durability of your framed artwork. Here is an overview of the four types of glass available for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
A safe and lightweight choice, ideal for large formats and homes with children. It is shatterproof and easy to handle, and once the protective film is removed, it appears clear with the familiar reflections known from regular glass.

Regular glass
A classic option that provides sharp colours, good contrast and the characteristic reflections that often give the artwork a traditional, timeless appearance.

Non-reflective glass
This glass has a slightly matte surface that significantly reduces glare, making the subject easier to view in rooms with strong daylight, many lamps or large windows.

Museum glass
The most exclusive solution. Museum glass is almost completely invisible, minimises reflections and provides around 70% UV protection, ensuring colours remain vibrant for many years. Combined with the UV filters already found in modern windows, your artwork receives excellent overall protection. The experience is similar to viewing the motif without glass – only with optimal preservation.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you want a passepartout around your poster, the frame must always be chosen in a larger format than the motif itself. For example, a 40×40 cm poster with a passepartout width of approximately 5 cm requires a 50×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours, although formats larger than 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.

Cutout

Measure your poster carefully and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller than the poster in both height and width. For example, a motif measuring 66×88 cm should use a cutout of 65×87 cm. This provides an overlap of approximately 5 mm on all sides and ensures clean, secure mounting.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout always correspond to the glass size of the selected frame. Please note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout lie approximately 5 mm behind the front profile of the frame.

Cutout position

You can choose between three cutout positions:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both top and bottom for a balanced look.

Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to the top and sides, resulting in a wider bottom border.

Passepartout without cutout: Delivered as a full sheet. The poster is mounted on top – ideal when you want the entire edge of the artwork or signatures to remain visible.

All passepartouts are cut from high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.

Both companies and public institutions needing invoices or EAN billing are welcome to contact us via email, phone or chat.

Payments are processed securely through Shopify Payments, and the amount is only charged once the order has been dispatched. You will receive an order confirmation by email, and the invoice will be available in your PlakatKunst account.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on all standard items. Custom-made frames and passepartouts cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically to your chosen measurements.

Damaged items
If your frame arrives damaged, we will of course send a replacement free of charge. Please send photos of the packaging and the damage to info@plakatkunst.dk.
