About the frame

This matte white wooden frame is created for you who want a bright, calm and completely clean, minimalist look around your artwork. The white lacquer has a uniform, fully matte finish where the grain of the wood is completely hidden, so the frame appears sharp, minimalist and modern. The profile is built with a 20 mm wide front and an outer depth of 20 mm, and the 5 mm overlap of the front gives a precise, secure framing without covering more of the picture than necessary.

You can choose between all our standard sizes, and the sizes always match the dimensions of the glass and backing board. This means that a frame in e.g. 50×50 cm fits a poster of the same size perfectly.

If you need a white wooden frame larger than 70x100, you need to buy the 30 mm deep profile.

Choice of glass

The glass has a great influence on both the appearance and the durability of your framed artwork. Here is an overview of the four types of glass you can choose for this frame:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

A safe and lightweight choice, perfect for large formats and homes with children. The shatterproof material makes it easy to handle, and when the film is removed, you get a clear surface with the familiar reflections you also see in standard glass.

Standard glass

A classic choice of glass that gives sharp colors, good contrast and the visible reflections that often add a traditional, timeless look to the artwork.

Non-reflective glass

This glass has a slightly matte surface that reduces glare significantly. It makes the artwork easier to see in rooms with strong daylight, many lamps or large windows.

Museum glass

The most exclusive solution. Museum glass is almost completely invisible, minimizes reflections and provides around 70% UV protection, so the colors are preserved for many years. Together with the UV filters already found in modern windows, your artwork gets excellent overall protection. The experience is like seeing the artwork without glass — just with optimal preservation.

Choose the type of glass that best suits both the artwork and the lighting conditions — it makes a bigger difference to the overall impression than you would expect at first.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout around your artwork, the frame itself must be chosen in a larger format than the artwork. For example, a 40×50 cm poster with a passepartout of about 5 cm requires a frame in 50×60 cm.

The passepartout can be chosen in several colors, so it suits both artwork and frame. For formats over 81×110 cm, only white and off-white can be ordered.

Cutout size

Measure your artwork accurately and subtract 1 cm in both width and height – that is your cutout size. A poster of 41×51 cm should therefore have a cutout size of 40×50 cm. The passepartout then overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds it securely in place. If you would rather have a reveal, where a little of the paper is visible, you can choose that in our Frame Designer.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions of the passepartout are always identical to the dimensions of the glass in the frame. Note that the glass, backing board and passepartout go approx. 5 mm in under the front edge of the frame.

Number of cutouts

You can freely choose between 0-5 cutouts in your passepartout. If you want more, you are welcome to contact us. Zero cutouts are typically used if an artwork is to be laid on top of the board — perfect if you want to highlight the entire edge of the picture, the signature or print marks.

Position of the cutout

Choose the position that best suits your artwork:

Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to the top and bottom gives a classic, balanced look.

Top-positioned cutout: The same border width at the top and sides and a slightly wider border at the bottom.

Free positioning: Gives you full control over the position. You enter the distance from the top and the left side and can see the result along the way in our preview.

All passepartouts are cut from 1,5 mm acid-free quality board.
