About the frame

Light wooden frame in oak veneer for you if you want a calm, Nordic look with a light and harmonious play of color.

The frame is made with a core of ayous wood and clad in real oak veneer. This gives a beautiful and uniform oak look combined with high stability and low weight - ideal for both small and large formats.

The soft wood tone makes the frame discreet and elegant, and the relatively uniform surface gives a more predictable result than solid oak, where color and grain can vary significantly.

The profile is 20 mm wide and 30 mm deep. The 20 mm wide front extends 5 mm in over the glass and backing board, so the artwork is held securely in place without unnecessary overlap.

Strong metal hangers are mounted on the back for both horizontal and vertical hanging. The frame is light in weight but sturdily constructed, and the veneer surface keeps its neat appearance year after year.

The light wood color makes the frame particularly suitable for art with muted or light shades, where the aim is to support the artwork without dominating the room.

If you want a slimmer variant in the same tone, we also offer light oak in 15×15 mm.

Choosing glass

The glass is of great importance to both the reproduction of the artwork and the visual experience in the room. Each type has its advantages:

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Lightweight and shatterproof – ideal for families with children, public spaces or large formats. Once the protective film is removed, the acrylic glass appears clear, with reflections reminiscent of standard glass.

Standard glass
Our most classic glass. It gives a clean, sharp clarity and a familiar light reflection that many prefer in traditional hanging environments.

Non-reflective glass
The matte surface reduces glare significantly and makes the artwork easy to see from different angles – perfect in rooms with a lot of incoming light or direct lamps.

Museum glass
The most exclusive choice. Museum glass is almost invisible, reduces reflections to a minimum and offers up to 70% UV protection. Colors and contrasts appear particularly precise, and the artwork is experienced almost as if unprotected.

Passepartout

If you want a passepartout around your artwork, the frame itself must be chosen in a larger format than the artwork. For example, a 50×70 cm poster with a passepartout of approximately 5 cm requires a frame in 60×80 cm.

Passepartouts can be ordered in several shades – but only in white and off-white when the format is larger than 81×110 cm.

Cutout size

Measure your artwork accurately and subtract 1 cm from both the width and the height – that is your cutout size. A poster measuring 61×91,5 cm should thus have a cutout size of 60×90,5 cm. The passepartout then overlaps the artwork by approx. 5 mm all the way around and holds it securely in place. If you would rather have a reveal edge, where a little of the paper is visible, you can choose it in our Frame Designer.

Outer dimension

You do not need to decide on the outer dimension – it is always identical to the dimensions of the glass in the frame. The glass, backing board and passepartout sit approx. 5 mm in under the front edge of the frame.

Number of cutouts

The passepartout is available with 0-5 cutouts of your choice. If you need more cutouts, please contact us. If you choose no cutouts, the artwork is mounted on top of the board, which highlights the entire edge of the picture, the signature and the print marks.

Position of the cutout

There are three positions to choose between:

Centered cutout (standard): The same distance to the top and bottom – the classic solution.

Top-positioned cutout: The cutout is moved up, so the distance to the top and sides is equal and the bottom border becomes wider.

Free positioning: Here you control the position yourself down to the smallest detail. You choose the distance from the top and the left side, while our preview shows what it looks like.

Whichever you choose, the passepartout is made from 1,5 mm acid-free board of professional quality.
