About the frame
This 12 mm narrow and 18 mm deep wooden frame is made of solid, untreated oak – nothing else. The natural oak gives each frame its own unique look, because the grain and structure vary from frame to frame. We select and assemble the frames with great care so that the four sides of the frame harmonize as best as possible – but the natural variation is part of the charm. If you want a more uniform and calm look, you can instead choose one of our veneer frames, for example the model in light oak (15×15 mm) or dark oak (12×18 mm).
The backboard is made of masonite and equipped with brackets so that the frame can be hung both vertically and horizontally. Frames smaller than 18×24 cm also come with a practical support foot so that they can also stand freely on a shelf or table.
4 mm behind the front of the frame lies glass and backing plate, and it is the dimensions of these parts that determine the frame's format - and thus also the size of the picture or passepartout you want framed.
If you want a more distinctive wood look, we also offer a 20 mm wide oak profile, which gives a stronger, more robust look.
Glass
The glass in a frame does much more than you might think. It changes both how the subject is experienced in the room and how well colors, contrasts and details are preserved over time. When you choose glass, you also choose a visual mood – from sharp and classic to soft and non-reflective – and the degree of protection against light and wear. Here are the four types of glass you can choose from:
Acrylic glass (plexiglass)
Acrylic glass is the safe and easy choice. It weighs only a fraction of regular glass and cannot shatter, making it ideal for large formats, children's rooms and rooms where the frame hangs exposed. When the protective foil is removed on both sides, acrylic glass is almost as clear as regular glass - but with the natural reflections that you also know from real glass.
Normal glass
If you want classic clarity and a completely clean look, plain glass is the traditional choice. It provides sharp and natural color reproduction, and the visible reflections often add some depth and life to the subject, especially in quiet surroundings without too much direct light.
Non-reflective glass
Non-reflective glass is perfect for rooms with lots of daylight, large windows or direct lighting. The slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare, so the subject is visible from many more angles. At the same time, it maintains beautiful color reproduction, just with a calmer, softer experience.
Museum glass
Museum glass is the most exclusive solution and stands out both visually and technically. It is almost invisible, without the reflections that are usually associated with glass, and at the same time it protects against UV rays by at least 70%. This means that your posters, art prints and photographs retain their colors, contrast and level of detail for many years. The effect is reminiscent of seeing the subject without glass at all – only with much better protection.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount
When you want a passepartout around your poster, the frame itself should always be chosen in a larger format than the motif. An example: A poster of 40×40 cm with a passepartout of approximately 5 cm requires a frame of size 50×50 cm.
We can produce passepartouts in several colors. However, formats over 70×100 cm can only be produced in white.
Cutout
Measure your poster precisely and choose an inside measurement that is 1 cm smaller than the size of the poster itself. For example, if you have a poster measuring 66×88 cm, we recommend a hole measurement of 65×87 cm. This gives an overlap of approx. 5 mm all the way around, which makes both mounting and holding easier.
Outer dimensions
The outer dimensions of the passepartout should always correspond to the size of the glass in the frame. Please note that the glass, backing plate and passepartout extend approximately 5 mm below the front of the frame.
Cutout position
You can choose between three designs:
Centered cutout (standard): Equal distance to both top and bottom.
Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to top and sides, while the bottom becomes wider.
Passepartout without cutout: This option allows you to mount the poster on top of the passepartout cardboard – perfect if you want to show signatures, edge marks or simply the entire poster.
All passepartouts are made of high-quality 1.5 mm acid-free cardboard.
