About the frame

In our collection you will find both a standard aluminium frame for smaller formats and this premium model from German manufacturer Nielsen. The premium version is known for its exceptional stability and precision, and is among the most robust aluminium frames available.

The matt silver front profile is slightly curved and just 6 mm wide, giving a minimalist, light and timeless appearance that still provides excellent strength — even in the largest formats. The side profile has a brushed finish and a depth of 20 mm.

For formats below 30×30 cm, only our standard matt silver aluminium frame is used.

Note: Sizes always refer to the glass and backing dimensions. A 30×40 cm frame fits a 30×40 cm poster exactly.

Passepartout / Mat

If you want to use a passepartout, the frame must always be one size larger than the poster. Example: A 30×40 cm poster with a passepartout of approx. 5 cm requires a 40×50 cm frame.

We offer passepartouts in several colours. However, for formats larger than 70×100 cm, only white is available.

Cutout

Measure your poster carefully and choose a cutout that is 1 cm smaller in both height and width. For example, a 66×88 cm poster requires a 65×87 cm cutout, giving approx. 5 mm overlap around the edges.

Outer dimensions

The outer dimensions always correspond to the glass size of the frame. The glass, passepartout and backing sit approx. 5 mm behind the front edge of the profile.

Cutout position

• Centered cutout: Balanced placement with equal distance to top and bottom.
• Top-positioned cutout: Same distance to top and sides, creating a wider lower border.
• Without cutout: A full sheet of cardboard where the poster is mounted on top — ideal when you want the edges or signature to remain visible.

All passepartouts are made from 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Glass

The glass plays a major role in both appearance and protection. In aluminium frames, glass is slightly more expensive than in wooden frames due to the additional packaging and handling required. If damage occurs in transit, we will of course send new glass — this risk is included in the price.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass) — lightweight, shatterproof and similar in clarity to glass, with natural reflections.

Regular glass — classic choice with natural colour rendering and clear reflections.

Non-reflective glass — reduces glare with a softly matte surface; ideal for bright environments.

Museum glass — almost invisible, with minimal reflections and at least 70% UV protection. Combined with modern window filters, it provides exceptional preservation of colours and fine details.

Framing & handling

This premium frame has two removable brackets on the back. Use the included cord to hang the frame horizontally if desired.

How to insert the poster:

1. Loosen all corner screws and remove the two brackets on one of the short sides.
2. Remove the clips that hold the back plate in place.
3. Lift off the short profile completely.
4. Slide out the glass and backing plate together.
5. Place the poster between the glass and backing.
6. Slide the unit back into the frame.
7. Reattach the profile and tighten the corner screws until almost closed.
8. Secure the back plate with the clips.
9. Fully tighten the corner screws.

Returns

You have a 100-day return policy on standard products.

If you wish to return an item, simply email info@plakatkunst.dk. A return label is included in the box, and the return shipping fee will be deducted from your refund.

If your frame arrives damaged, we will of course send a replacement free of charge.
