About the frame

In our range you will find both a standard aluminium frame for the smaller formats and this exclusive premium frame from the German Nielsen. The premium version is known for its special stability and precision and is among the most solid aluminium frames on the market.

The front profile in matt silver is slightly curved and only 6 mm wide, giving a minimalist, light and timeless look, while being strong enough for even the largest formats. The side has a brushed surface and a depth of 20 mm.

For formats under 30x30 cm, only our standard matt silver aluminium frame is used.

NOTE: The sizes always indicate the dimensions of the glass and backing. A 30×40 cm frame therefore fits a poster of the same size exactly.

Passepartout / Mat / Mount

If you want a passepartout around the motif, the frame format must be one size larger than the poster itself. Example: A 30x40 cm poster, framed with a passepartout of approx. 5 cm, requires a 40x50 cm frame.

We offer mounts in several colors. However, for frames larger than 70×100 cm, only white cardboard can be selected.

Inter dimensions

Measure the poster exactly and choose an inside measurement that is 1 cm below the poster's dimensions. If your poster measures 66×88 cm, we recommend 65×87 cm. This will allow the cardboard to overlap by approx. 0.5 cm all the way around, so that the motif is held securely in place.

Outer dimensions

The external dimensions always follow the glass size. Please note that the glass, passe-partout and backing plate are approximately 5 mm below the front of the frame.

Location of the cutout

You can choose between:

• Centered cutout (standard) – same distance to top and bottom.

• Cutout located at the top - with symmetrical distance to the top and sides, and extra wide passe-partout at the bottom.

• Passepartout without cutout – where the poster is mounted on top of the cardboard, ideal if you want to show the entire motif, including edges or signature.

All passe-partouts are made of 1.5 mm acid-free quality cardboard.

Glass selection

The glass is of great importance for both expression and protection. In aluminum frames, glass is more expensive than in wooden frames, because metal frames require more careful packaging and handling. The risk of glass damage during transport is higher – and if this happens, we will of course send new glass (and possibly a new frame). This risk is included in the price.

Acrylic glass (plexiglass)

A shatterproof and very light material – particularly practical in large formats and perfect for homes with children. The transparency is similar to regular glass and has the familiar reflections.

Normal glass

A classic choice with natural color reproduction and clear reflections. Recommended in rooms with calm light.

Non-reflective glass

The slightly matte surface significantly reduces glare and makes the subject more visible in rooms with bright light, large windows or direct lighting.

Museum glass

The most exclusive solution. Almost invisible, with minimal reflection and at least 70% UV protection. Together with the UV filter of modern windows, it provides a noticeable preservation of the colors and the experience of seeing the subject without glass.

Framing and hanging

The premium frame has two removable brackets on the back. Use the included string and hang the frame horizontally.

How to put the poster in the frame:

1. Loosen all corner screws and remove the two brackets on one of the short sides.

2. Remove the clamps holding the back plate in place.

3. Take the short list off completely.

4. Slide out the glass and back plate as one unit.

5. Place the poster between the glass and the back plate.

6. Push the device back into the frame.

7. Reinstall the strip and tighten the corners almost to the bottom.

8. Put the small buckles in place so that the back plate is held tightly to the glass.

9. Tighten the corners completely.

Shipping & delivery

All frames are produced to order at our Danish workshop. Normal production time is a few weekdays, but during busy periods there may be longer delivery times. The time it takes for the courier to deliver your parcel depends on your location.

Return

You have a 100-day return policy.

Contact us at info@plakatkunst.dk if you wish to return. A return label is already included in the box. The return shipping fee will be deducted from the refund.

If the frame is received damaged, we will of course send a new one free of charge.
